GH: How Tweet it Is
Twitter has become a 140-character bridge between an increasing number of fans and soap stars, including many from GENERAL HOSPITAL.
“Twitter has become such a huge thing,” marvels Scott Reeves (Steve). “I’m on Twitter: @reevesforreal. That’s fun, because I’m constantly, throughout the day, tweeting pictures of where I’m at and what I’m doing. Another place fans can keep up with me is on Facebook: Scott Reeves on Facebook.”
“The people on Twitter are 99 percent fantastic,” cheers Daytime Emmy nominee Carolyn Hennesy (Diane), who also likes Facebook. “You have a lot more control on Facebook than you have on Twitter — except you have the ‘block’ button on Twitter, which, unfortunately, I’ve had to use a number of times on people who don’t play nice with others. But most of the people on Twitter are really, really groovy: so many wonderful fans, so many people with funny things to say, so insightful. I try to go on once in the morning and once at night, to say something like, ‘Hey, shot a couple of scenes with Maurice [Benard, Sonny] today.’ Everyone goes, ‘Ooooooh!’ Or, ‘Shot a couple of scenes with Nancy Lee Grahn [Alexis], look out for some good stuff coming up.'”
Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) takes her online contact with fans so seriously that in addition to Twitter, she maintains an official Web site, www.lisalocicero.net.
“I can go in and leave little bloggy messages,” she smiles. “You Twitter and you get to communicate with people that way. But it’s nice to be able to do it [on my Web site] without the 140-character rule. I can be a little bit more long-winded than, ‘I put together a bunk bed today,’ or ‘Gonna walk the dog.'”
