General Hospital Recap: Sonny Hires Ethan, Rocco Confesses To Britt and Jordan Lashes Out
Tensions were running high on General Hospital on Tuesday, April 21. Cody (Josh Kelly) pulled away from Molly (Kristen Vaganos), Curtis (Donnell Turner) put Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) on notice as Jordan (Tanisha Harper) lashed out at Portia (Brooke Kerr), Lulu (Alexa Havins) worried that Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) was dancing too close to the truth, Sonny (Maurice Benard) went against Ric’s (Rick Hearst) advice and offered Ethan (Nathan Dean) a job, and after Lucas (Van Hansis) begged Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) not to give up on their plan just yet, Rocco (Finn Carr) shocked her by confessing that he’d shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). Here’s everything that happened.
Mother Load
While at Bad Jen Café with Rocco and Lulu, Dante questioned his son about why he’s been avoiding Danny. On edge about the topic of conversation, lest Rocco slip and reveal the truth, Lulu cut it short by reminding Rocco that he needed to get to G.H. for his community service. Once she and Dante were alone, Lulu told him that she thought Danny and Rocco needed some time apart. Dante suggested that she was being overprotective, and Lulu acknowledged that he was right, sharing that she’s been worried about Rocco, Danny, and Jason ever since Cullum was shot, on top of already being worried about Charlotte since Valentin was still on the run. And now, Lulu added, her brother, Ethan, was back in town. Later, Dante was reviewing the report about Cullum’s shooting and sighed to Lulu that he couldn’t help but think he was missing something about what happened on Pier 55 that night. She appeared anxious as Dante remarked that the whole situation was sloppy and the opposite of Jason’s usual M.O.
Saddle Up
Back at his place, Cody and Molly started fooling around, but he pulled away, worried that having sex was going to be too painful for her following her endometriosis surgery. Assuring him that she was ready for intimacy, Molly promised she’d speak up if she was experiencing any discomfort, and the couple made love.
Short Fuse
At G.H., Curtis was annoyed that Portia had taken a last-minute appointment for a checkup on her pregnancy without telling him, and brought Isaiah with her. She explained that she hadn’t wanted to take him away from Jordan’s side, but agreed to let him know about any appointment changes moving forward. Meanwhile, Felicia suggested that Jordan attend a trauma support group, but she wasn’t interested. Isaiah stopped by Jordan’s room next and tried to play up all the positive sides of her eventual plastic surgery. Unfortunately, the conversation only succeeded in further upsetting Jordan, and Curtis walked in as Jordan was shouting at Isaiah to leave. After telling Curtis that she was overwhelmed and needed space, Jordan walked over to the cardiac care atrium, where she ran into Portia. Portia’s attempts to be helpful got Jordan wound up again. She accused Portia of hating that Jordan and Curtis are together now and snapped that she didn’t want the other woman’s pity. Opposite this, Curtis tracked down Isaiah at the hub and angrily told him to stay away from Jordan.
Keep Your Enemies Close
Sonny introduced Ethan to Ric, who was skeptical when Luke’s son asked for a job in the organization. Declaring that Ethan was angling to replace Jason, Ric accused him of working for Robert Scorpio. Sonny believed Ethan when he countered that he wasn’t Robert’s rat and had Ric interview Ethan on the spot. Impressed with Ethan’s answers to Ric’s questions, Sonny wanted to hire him. But Ric insisted bringing Ethan aboard was too big a risk; how did they know Ethan wasn’t there to infiltrate their organization and take Sonny down? Sonny decided to hire Ethan anyway, and once he and Ric were alone, he assured Ric that he knew that Ethan was probably hiding something, but was confident the young man wouldn’t use Luke’s memory to betray him. He argued that the only way to figure out what angle Ethan was working was to keep him close. “And I’m doing this for Luke,” added Sonny.
Outside the house, Ethan called Lulu and told her that he got a job with Sonny. Concerned, Lulu questioned if that was the best employment idea. Looking intently through the window at Sonny, Ethan proclaimed that he was exactly where he needed to be.
Confession Session
In Lucas’s office, Britt told him that while she was grateful for his help, she’d rather succumb to Huntington’s than continue to help Sidwell and Cullum build Faison’s cold fusion weapon and wanted to tell Sidwell that Cullum had murdered Marco. Lucas pointed out that if she did that, Sidwell would still end up walking away without being held accountable for his crimes. Begging her not to let Marco’s death be in vain, Lucas urged Britt to give their plan to take down Sidwell and Cullum more time. She agreed, even though she warned Lucas that she wasn’t sure how much more she could take emotionally.
Later, while Britt was walking past Cullum’s hospital room, she was horrified to see Rocco in there chatting with the WSB director. Britt quickly made up an excuse to get the teen out of the room and dragged Rocco into the chapel to speak privately. Rocco hadn’t realized whose room it was when a nurse asked him to deliver a pillow, he explained, and Britt warned him to stay away from Cullum, calling the man evil. As she explained that Cullum was the reason Jason was taken away, an impassioned Rocco blurted out that Cullum had tried to kill her. Britt was stunned when Rocco then confessed that he’d followed her to the pier that night and seen everything that had gone down. Britt’s eyes widened in horror when Rocco revealed that he, not Jason, was the one who’d shot Cullum!
Avoidance Is Key
Claiming that he wanted to make sure the PCPD’s report was accurate, Dante went to the hospital to see Cullum and asked about the baton that was found on the pier. Cullum replied that his goal had been to bring Jason in with minimal violence, but he took out his gun when Morgan resisted. Dante then questioned how Jason had ended up holding the agent’s gun. In lieu of answering, Cullum calmly replied, “I believe you have all the facts you need to make an accurate report. Dante thanked him for his time and exited, clearly suspecting that Cullum was withholding key information.
