Emma Scorpio on General Hospital — Everything You Need To Know
Emma Scorpio-Drake is back on General Hospital with a new face, so it’s understandable if some fans might need a refresher on her extensive history in Port Charles. Which is exactly where we come in! Born in November 2008, Emma was aged into a little girl when Brooklyn Rae Silzer took over the role in July 2011. Although Emma left town with her parents in 2016, Silzer continued to pop back into GH every now and then, her last visit being in November 2023. In December 2024, the character returned, but recast with daytime newcomer Braedyn Bruner.
Emma was born on what was meant to be Robin Scorpio and Patrick Drake’s wedding day, but the newborn’s arrival interrupted things! After an emergency C-section, the proud parents welcomed their baby girl and named her Emma Grace. After discovering a cut on Emma’s ear, they feared the infant might have been infected with HIV from her mother, but thankfully, tests showed her to be HIV-negative. When Robin began suffering from postpartum depression, Patrick worried about their daughter’s safety, but everyone intervened to get Robin the help she needed.

As a toddler, Emma found herself caught up in Lisa Niles’s obsession with Patrick and was left alone in a car after Robin crashed and was abducted by her rival. Emma and Robin moved back in with Patrick after Mac’s house burned down. Lisa actually rescued Emma and Robin from the fire, but continued to plot against them until she landed in jail.
Emma was crushed when her mother was killed in a lab explosion, and Patrick’s depression led him to start stealing drugs from the hospital. After he got his act together, Patrick began dating Britt Westbourne, but Emma much preferred Sabrina Santiago, who was her babysitter for a time. When Britt insisted to Emma that she couldn’t stop her and Patrick from being together, the little girl ran away. Sabrina brought her home, and Patrick was stunned to discover how Britt had been behaving. Emma was happy when her father and Sabrina finally got together, but when the couple were about to get married, Robin returned, very much alive!

Emma was overjoyed to be reunited with her mother, but Patrick felt terrible about dumping Sabrina to reunite with Robin. Cameron Webber and Spencer Cassadine both had a crush on Emma and fought for her affection. The girl was happy to learn that Sabrina was going to give her a baby brother, but sad when Gabriel was born early, following a car accident, and later died in the hospital. Emma was also upset to learn that her parents were getting a divorce.
When Patrick got involved with Sam McCall, Emma worried that her dead husband, Jason, would come back just like Robin did, and sure enough, that’s exactly what happened! Patrick took Emma to Paris to visit Robin, only to find her missing, and he teamed up with Anna Devane and Robert Scorpio to find her so mother and daughter could be reunited at Christmas. Emma was caught in a fire at Wyndemere during Spencer’s birthday party, but escaped relatively unscathed. In 2016, Patrick and Robin remarried and moved to California with Emma to live happily ever after.

Emma has returned to Port Charles to visit her grandmother, Anna, and attend the annual Nurses Ball. She has also come home for the Christmas holidays, as well as Nathan West and Maxie Jones’ wedding, where she acted as co-flower girl with Georgie. In the spring of 2018, Emma helped Anna search for information about Henrik Faison at his childhood school in Switzerland. And in 2019, she paid her grandmother a visit, where she met her new beau, Finn, and got to know her Uncle Peter a little bit.
In March 2023, Emma surprised Anna by visiting her at the safehouse where she was hiding before attending the memorial service for Epiphany Johnson, where she was one of the speakers sharing memories of the beloved nurse. Then, in November, Emma surprised Anna with a visit at Thanksgiving and joined her, Robert, and Diane Miller for dinner at The Metro Court.
Emma resurfaced in Port Charles in December 2024, first running into Gio Palmieri in the park and asking him to hold a stolen wallet. She then joined the Scorpio Christmas party as Anna’s surprise to the family. Emma announced she was transferring to PCU, but Anna quickly found out that she’d been expelled from Berkley and insisted Emma would stay with her so she could keep an eye on her. When Anna scolded Emma for partying with friends when she should have been studying, Emma urged her grandmother to loosen up and struck a deal that she’d come out clubbing with her if she got straight A’s.

Emma asked Gio to play violin at a fundraiser for students against animal cruelty, and though he initially suspected it was a scam, he agreed. She also managed to get PCU star quarterback Kai Taylor to support the cause, and he enlisted Trina Robinson to join in as well. After Emma was a little too enthusiastic trying to recruit Josslyn Jacks, Gio urged her to take it down a notch.
Emma and Gio grew closer, and she even helped him try to save the Quartermaine family crypt. She also offered him comfort when he learned that Dante and Brook Lynn were his biological parents. Professor Dalton urged Emma to apply for the research assistant position, and she was furious when Josslyn got the position instead. She had wanted to use the job as an in to prove that the professor was behind illegal animal testing, having followed him to Port Charles from Berkley. Gio offered to help, and the pair finally shared their first kiss.
