General Hospital, Days of our Lives Alum Robert Kelker-Kelly Dead at 62
Robert Kelker-Kelly, best known for playing Bo Brady on Days of our Lives and Stavros Cassadine on General Hospital, has died at the age of 62.
Robert Kelker-Kelly Dies
TMZ reports that the actor passed away on October 3 in Missouri, but the cause of his death is not yet known.
A native of Witchita, Kansas, Robert Kelker-Kelly was born on April 18, 1964. He made his soap opera debut on Another World, where he originated the role of Sam Fowler. After starring as Sam from 1987 until 1990, he returned to the world of daytime in 1992 when Days of our Lives made the decision to recast the role of Bo Brady, which had been made famous by Peter Reckell. He won the Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in 1994 for his portrayal of Bo.
Kelker-Kelly exited DAYS in 1995 when the show rehired Reckell. “It was a good run and I had a good time while it lasted,” Kelker-Kelly told Soap Opera Digest at the time.
In 1996, Kelker-Kelly made a surprise return to Another World as Shane Roberts, also known as Bobby Reno, a character unrelated to Sam. He left the show again in 1998.
The actor next popped up on General Hospital as Stavros Cassadine, a role originally played by John Martinuzzi in 1983. He appeared on GH in 2001, then again in 2002 and 2003. In 2013, he briefly reprised Stavros again as part of the show’s 50th anniversary celebration, and he made another brief comeback in 2014.
Kelker-Kelly retired from acting to become a professional pilot.
From 1997 until 2011, Kelker-Kelly was married to his one-time DAYS co-star Miriam Parrish. The couple divorced in 2011, and Kelker-Kelly never remarried.
On DAYS, Kelker-Kelly’s Bo was at the epicenter of a major love triangle alongside Hope Brady, played by Kristian Alfonso, and Billie Reed, played by Lisa Rinna. Rinna made headlines earlier this year when she wrote about Kelker-Kelly in her memoir, You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It, alleging that her leading man “made my life a living hell on the set of DAYS.” Rinna added, “I’d go so far as to say [he was] verbally abusive…. I never knew when I arrived on set each morning if I’d get nice Robert Kelker-Kelly or dark Robert Kelker-Kelly. He was unpredictable and it was exhausting.”
