Exclusive: The DAYS Co-Star Cherie Jimenez Wanted a Picture With
Stefan may be long gone on Days of our Lives, but Cherie Jimenez (Gabi) did get to share some screen time with his TV mom, consummate daytime veteran Louise Sorel (Vivian), and it was an experience she won’t soon forget. “She’s wonderful,” raves Jimenez about the daytime veteran. “An incredible actress. I really enjoyed our stuff together. I mean, she’s legendary! So [working with her] was an absolute honor.”

And an experience Jimenez wanted to document. “At the end, I was like, “Can I get a picture with you?’ ” recounts Jimenez. “Usually when I work with people, I don’t ask for pictures. But they took a photo of us on set, so who knows? It might end up somewhere at some point.”
While sharing screen time with Sorel, Jimenez got to learn all about Gabi and Vivian’s combative past. “Every time I work with an actor I’ve never worked with before, I get to find out more about their relationship. And I was like, ‘Oh, now I see why you took Stefan away,’ ” delivers Jimenez with a laugh.
The pair had some memorable moments together during Sorel’s run on the soap, including a few sparring scenes where the two adversaries got to go head-to-head. “Without being able to say too much, the scenes that we had, just within the writing alone, it was very clear the disdain these two characters have for each other,” notes Jimenez. “I was able to see what their relationship is, because of what was being said in our scenes, I was like, ‘Oh, okay. This is what it is.’ You really get to see the dynamic of just how much disdain they both hold for each other.”
What really appealed to Jimenez is the fact that Gabi was a force to be reckoned with during all of the above and not a meek little flower who cowered in fear opposite the diabolical Vivian. “No, no, no. She does not,” asserts Jimenez. “Gabi doesn’t back down at all. She is a fighter. But Vivian definitely lays it on Gabi, and Gabi just lays it right back on her. They definitely go head-to-head. It was definitely interesting to play, and it will be interesting to see what plays out when it [finally streams], because we filmed all of this so far ahead. But I’m looking forward to seeing it and the next chapter in Gabi’s life, whatever is coming.”
