Days of Our Lives Comings And Goings: Al Calderon Confirms Exit As Javi: ‘I Love You Forever’
Al Calderon, who made his Days of Our Lives debut as Javi Hernandez in October 2024, confirmed his imminent departure from the show in a statement posted to his Instagram Stories. The actor is leaving Salem to becoming a series regular on Brilliant Minds, the NBC medical drama starring Zachary Quinto (Star Trek) that is set to enter its second season.
Fond Farewell
In his emotional message, Calderon wrote, “My time on Days of Our Lives has been truly life-changing. I’m endlessly grateful to the cast, crew, and creatives who made me feel seen, valued, and part of a legacy of family. I’ll carry the love, lessons, and memories with me on every journey I go on.”
He concluded, “While I’m just a small grain of sand, I’m just happy I got to pass through the hourglass. As my mom used to tell me — it’s not goodbye, just see you later. I love you forever @dayspeacock.”
It was first announced in July that Calderon had landed the role of Scotty Silva, a nurse at Brilliant Minds‘s fictional hospital, Bronx General. At the time, DAYS did not expressly confirm his exit, with a spokesperson offering, “We do not comment on the contract status of our actors, but fans should not worry, ‘Javi’ is alive and well in Salem.” But setside sources told Soap Opera Digest that Calderon’s role would be recast in light of the actor’s new gig.
