Days Of Our Lives 2025 Preview: Sami Returns, EJ Is Shot And More!
In a new interview with TV Insider, DAYS’s co-executive producer, Janet Spellman, dished about what the show has in store in 2025, which also happens to be the year the venerable soap celebrates its 60th anniversary.
As fans know, Head Writer Ron Carlivati was replaced back in July with a new head-writing team, Paula Cwickly and Jeanne Marie Ford, and the material they crafted will hit the air in late April. According to Spellman, “it will quickly be evident that they are moving us back to Salem’s core family dynamics — Brady, Horton, Kiriakis, DiMera, and Hernandez families.” The exec also teased that Alison Sweeney (Sami), Louise Sorel (Vivian) and Kyle Lowder (Rex) will be popping in to Salem, with more veteran faves returning in the lead-up to the anniversary in November.
Earlier in the year, the show will introduce new actresses in the roles of Rachel Black and Sophia Choi. February 12 will mark Rachel Boyd’s first appearance as Sophia, who is taking over for Madelyn Kientz, while the new Rachel, Alice Halsey, will first be seen on April 24. Halsey succeeds Finley Rose Slater. In other casting news, Michael Dietz (ex-Alan-Michael Spaulding, Guiding Light; ex-Joe Scanlon, Port Charles; ex-Mark Maclaine, Bold and Beautiful) has been tapped to join the show in April for a short-term storyline arc, while Emily O’Brien’s return as Gwen Rizczech is set for March 10, and Kim Coles makes a one-day comeback as Nurse Whitley (the Body and Soul-obsessed nurse who kidnapped Abe) on February 5.
Drucker stressed that 2025 would be “a big year honoring the show’s past and legacy while setting up new, eventful, and exciting stories.” On that front, DAYS will unfurl a major mystery — “Who Shot EJ DiMera?” — as 2025 gets underway, as well, while on the romance front, Gabi and JJ get closer, Chad and Cat find their pull to one another hard to shake, EJ and Belle’s attraction heats up, and love triangles brew between Leo, Sophia and Holly (who will also be drawn to Doug Williams III), and Alex, Joy and Stephanie.
Alison Sweeney’s Salem comeback is on the horizon.
