Since exiting the role of B&B’s Thomas, one of the projects keeping Pierson Fodé busy is a new app called 8secondz. “It’s really cool,” Fodé enthuses. “This is a competition where fans can jump in and compete. My competition is for acting, and whoever can recreate their favorite pickup line, with the best use creativity or humor or shots or whatever, will land in the top 20. From there, two winners will get a 30-minute mentoring session with myself, and I can help critique it and make suggestions about how to improve it, and we both learn from the experience. And, we can also just have a conversation, too. They can ask me just about whatever they want. It’s a really cool, interactive platform. I’ve started watching some of the entries already, and there have been some really inventive ones so far.”The busy actor, who also writes and creates his own films, is thrilled to share his experience in the business so far with others. “Not only is this a chance to pay it forward but more than that, I get an opportunity to help shape somebody’s future in a very interactive, hands-on way. I can offer them advice about what happened to me, on the mistakes that I’ve made, on the successes that I’ve had — but we definitely learn more from the mistakes, right? Whether it’s a young creative mind who has already been doing it or somebody who’s just getting into a new field and chasing their dream, I hope to be able to pass on some inspiration.”
To get involved, download the free 8secondz app at iTunes onto your phone, make an 8-second video of a pickup line, which can be original or re-created from a movie or TV show, and post the video on the app to gain likes — and possibly score a one-on-one with Fodé himself. Entrants must be at least 13 years of age, and viewing posted videos and voting on the 8secondz app are also free. “Come on, talk to me,” smiles Fodé. “It’ll be fun!”
