Bold And Beautiful Gets Three-Year Renewal From CBS!
Exciting news was handed down today by CBS: the network has renewed Bold and Beautiful for three more years, ensuring that it will remain on the air through the 2027-28 television season and see its 41st season.
Time To Celebrate
The show, which premiered on March 23, 1987, recently celebrated its 38th anniversary and still boasts two original cast members among its players, John McCook (Eric) and Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke). According to a CBS press release, the program averages nearly 3.2 million daily viewers, and streaming of the series on Paramount+ is up by 8% since last year.
Bradley Bell, who has served as B&B’s head writer since 1995 and its executive producer/head writer since 1995, is the son of the show’s creators, late daytime television icons William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell. (In a nod to the show’s setting in the glamorous world of fashion, B&B’s working title was Rags.) The pair had previously collaborated on the creation of B&B’s sister show, Young and Restless, which premiered in 1973.
B&B took home the statuette for Outstanding Drama Series at the Daytime Emmys in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and was awarded the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Writing In A Drama Series in 2010 and 2013. Among the show’s actors who have won Daytime Emmys in the major acting categories are Scott Clifton (Liam), Thorsten Kaye (Ridge), Ted King (Jack), John McCook and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy).
Of all the American soaps on the air today, B&B has the furthest international reach, airing in over 100 countries. In fact, on May 18, 2010, the series was recognized by Guinness World Records for being the daytime TV soap with the largest audience ever; at the time, its worldwide viewership was 24.5 million across five continents. In 2023, the show filmed its milestone 9,000th episode.
