Accusations

The action in the Beyond the Gates spoilers preview video for the week of June 23 opens at the hospital where Ashley (Jen Jacob) questions Dani’s (Karla Mosley) take on Hayley’s (Marquita Goings) current state. “You think that Hayley is pretending to be in pain?” Ashley asks. Dani is quick to respond with her list of reasons, saying, “She faked the fetus to hold onto the man. Now it’s hard to fake a swollen belly, so she’s faking a miscarriage and trying to pin it on me!”

A Big Shock

Martin (Brandon Claybon) gets a surprise when he walks into Bill’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) office and finds not only the lawyer but also his grandfather, Vernon (Clifton Davis), Detective Marcel Malone (Darryl W. Handy), Elon Hawthorne (Malachi Malik), Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom), and his own father, Ted (Keith D. Robinson). “What the hell? Now you’re pulling him into it?” Martin asks, demanding answers. Vernon drops a bomb on his grandson when he says, “Your father’s known from the beginning.” Martin turns to Ted with a look of shock and betrayal. “Tell me that’s not true,” Martin pleads.

Hard Questions

In their bedroom, a shirtless Jacob (Jibre Hordges) is working through some doubts he has about his father, who is also his boss at the police department, with his wife, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit). “And what if this is just the first layer?” he asks. Trying to make him feel better, she asks, “But I thought Elon explained that away.”

Reunited

Anita (Tamara Tunie) is back in Vernon’s arms, but why is she back so soon? “Is there something you’re not telling me about our kingdom?” she asks. As they hug, Vernon looks worried.
