Best in Soaps: General Hospital, The Young & the Restless and More – February 2026

Comments

February was full of shocking twists, dramatic turns, and unforgettable moments across all five daytime soaps. From the high-stakes drama of Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) revenge on Drew (Cameron Mathison) on General Hospital to Phyllis’s (Michelle Stafford) triumph The Young and the Restless and Anita’s (Tamara Tunie) poignant health battle on Beyond the Gates, we’re breaking down the best moments of the month for your favorite shows. Read on to see which storylines had us cheering. (As for what had us cringing in February, be sure to check that out, too!)

General Hospital: Willow on the Warpath

Once we found out Willow had indeed shot Drew, all bets were off regarding what she’d do next. But it was still a shock when she jabbed a syringe into his neck, resulting in his locked-in syndrome, and made it clear she planned to keep drugging him and holding him hostage in his own home. Then, in early February, when Drew was released from the hospital, his “devoted” wife confessed her crimes to her helpless husband. All the Quartermaine scion could do was lie there blinking as the horror set in about what his new bride had done to him. Payback’s a bitch, eh congressman?

A few weeks later, Alexis asked to see Drew so she could calculate how upsetting it would be for Scout to see her dad. Willow let her in, and Alexis immediately noticed Drew’s incessant blinking. “Are you trying to tell me something?” she asked obliviously, not putting together that Willow could have something to do with Drew’s paralysis despite Alexis knowing Willow shot him. Ms. Davis later relayed that it seemed like Drew was trying to communicate with her. That was Willow’s cue to up his dosage.

While all that was going on, Sidwell came out of left field to demand Willow take over her husband’s seat in congress. Turned out the GH baddie has been in cahoots with Willow! He knows she shot Drew, it was strongly implied that the PCPD’s traffic cam evidence against her went missing on his orders and he gave her the meds she’s using to paralyze her hubby. So now, Willow must obey all Sidwell’s orders. Twist! Payback’s a bitch, eh congresswoman?

Bold and Beautiful: Ridge And Brooke Learns Eric Is Katie’s New Designer

The set-up was perfect: Ridge forced his father to retire from Forrester Creations to “protect” him from his desire to compromise his health and keep working, so Eric offered his services to the competition. Katie and Bill were thrilled to welcome the famed designer to their fledgling company, but struggled to keep it under wraps knowing Ridge would blow a silk-laced gasket if he ever found out — which of course he did.

Bold and Beautiful had fun in the interim setting up the reveal. Ridge and Brooke spent weeks speculating who Logan’s hush-hush new designer might be, dismissing him or her as a no-name who would never achieve the elegance and sophistication of Forrester. Liam also got wind of his father’s secret, forcing him to lie to his new wife Hope and her mother. Brooke pressed; Liam kept mum. But it all came out after Ridge and Brooke stormed over to Eric’s house to demand he explain why he’s so stressed out and they spied his designs on the coffee table.

“You wouldn’t work for Spencer,” sputtered Ridge after learning Eric had indeed joined Logan as their lead designer. A huge fight ensued, resulting in Eric having a medical episode and Ridge apologizing for disrespecting his dad. Brooke and Katie went at it, with Brooke accusing her sister of stealing the Logan name and stealing Eric. Battle lines were drawn with Ridge and Brooke demanding Eric return to Forrester Creations while Bill and Katie asserted Eric worked for them and they owned his designs. “After today, it’s over,” Brooke spat to Katie.

Days of Our Lives: Goodbye, Stefano

Days of Our Lives bid farewell to the show’s greatest villain in February, ten years after Stefano DiMera’s powerhouse portrayer, Joseph Mascolo, passed away. The premise was that his bones turned up in the DiMera crypt and his children wanted to say goodbye.

“Shall I take the lead?” asked Tony, who did just that as EJ, Kristen, Chad and Theo gathered around. Flashbacks recalled Stefano’s obsession with Marlena as Tony highlighted EJ’s similar unhealthy pursuit of Marlena’s daughter Sami and Kristen’s own psychotic efforts with John and his son Brady. They all agreed obsession was a DiMera family trait, but honored their father’s memory re: his devotion to family and support of his children. Chad and EJ shared how important each was to the other, and wished each other peace. “To Fah-tha,” toasted Tony as Stefano’s favorite opera music played in the background.

Bonuses included Anna’s return to join Salem OGs Steve, Kayla, Roman, Kate and even Marlena to honor The Phoenix, and Stefano’s loved ones humorously talking to his urn. Elsewhere, Rolf and EJ had a curious conversation about a part of Stefano living on (is that you Lexie?), and Rolf shocked EJ by giving him Stefano’s signet ring, saying his last wish was for EJ to have it.

“Part of me will never believe you’re gone,” whispered EJ to Stefano’s memory. Ditto.

Young and Restless: Phyllis Wins — For Now

Sure it probably won’t last, but it’s fun to watch someone beat Victor because it happens so rarely. Like, never.

Phyllis played hardball with the Newmans, Abbotts, and her own kids to gain control of Newman Enterprises, finally succeeding after partnering with Cane and his AI software to steal it. But when Cane suggested they run NE as the same successful company it had always been, she balked.

“I want notoriety,” demanded Phyllis, insisting they put their own names on the conglomerate to reflect the hard work she put in to achieve the giant “screw you” to her doubters. Before they got the chance to redo the logo, Victor informed Cane he was holding his ex-wife Lily and their kids hostage and Cane would never see them again unless NE was returned. Cane folded; Phyllis drugged him and took the company for herself.

Naturally the Y&R siren couldn’t resist getting in the faces of everyone who tried to stand in her way — including her outraged ex-husband Nick Newman. He reported Phyllis’s backstabbing to their (off-screen) daughter Summer who refused to see mother dearest when she flew to Italy. Back home, Phyllis’s son Daniel expressed similar outrage. He warned his mother that Victor will destroy her in his quest to get Newman back and when it happens he, Summer and her granddaughter Lucy won’t be there for her. They’re done.

So what did Phyllis “win”? A company she’ll have to battle ferociously to keep and the likelihood that she’ll spend every Thanksgiving alone. But for one shining moment, she did get the better of The Great Victor Newman.

Beyond The Gates: Anita’s Cancer Journey

Soaps normally use diseases to encourage viewers to get routine check-ups so they can avoid whatever terrible thing is happening to their on-screen faves. Attempts to educate can get preachy, especially when an actor appears at the end of an episode to break the fourth wall and urge us to get poked, prodded or screened.

But BTG is bucking that trend by humanizing Anita’s breast cancer diagnosis through the impact it’s having on her family (getting tested for the BRCA gene, etc.) and on her status in the community. When Anita’s hair started falling out, Dani urged her mother to cut it so she could take back her power — cue the parade of colorful wigs and outfits. When Anita stumbled at the club during lunch with Vernon as a side effect of her chemotherapy, whispers started that she was drunk in the middle of the day. So Anita did what any cancer-stricken famous singer would do: She called up her old buddy Gayle King and gave a believable and informative interview to CBS News about what she was going through and the importance of early detection.

“I would have rather gone public when it was a story of victory,” Anita shared with her family, admitting the timing wasn’t ideal but adding, “life doesn’t wait for perfect endings.” On the contrary: The timing here has been spot-on and Anita is on track to have just that.
