B&B’s John McCook (Eric) Tackles Our Random Questions
Of your two daytime soap opera personas, who’s cooler — Y&R’s Lance Prentiss or B&B’s Eric Forrester?
“Eric Forrester. Lance Prentiss was pretty cocky and he thought he was pretty hot stuff — that may be John McCook, too [laughs]. I think Eric is cooler because he has accomplished more and I believe he knows how to handle things better.”
What’s your favorite James Bond film?
“I like the early ones with Sean Connery. My favorite is probably Goldfinger.”
What prime-time CBS show would you want a guest spot on?
“I would love to be on MADAM SECRETARY. The military and cop shows are not really my cup of tea, unless I was playing some corporate bad guy or a wealthy cad who killed his wife for her jewelry or something. BLUE BLOODS would be fun to do.”
You appeared on many game shows back in the 1970s and 1980s. Which one was your favorite and why?
“You know what I loved — but it was very intimidating to me — was THE $10,000 PYRAMID. I loved that show, but I was always worried that I wasn’t going to be very good at it, even though I was. I just think it’s a really fun game.”
Have you ever been mistaken for another celebrity?
“People used to say I looked like Gil Gerard, who played Buck Rogers [on BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY]. Or Tom Brokaw back when he was on the air.”
What’s your favorite snack?
“Extra-chunky peanut butter on the spoon with a glass of milk.”
