The 19th Annual Soap Opera Digest Awards were not aired on network or cable television; instead, they were announced in the Feb. 22 edition of Soap Opera Digest.


GENERAL HOSPITAL took Favorite Show for the second year in a row, while
Maurice Benard
(Sonny) was named Outstanding Lead Actor for the second consecutive year. GH’s Tamara Braun (Carly) and Rick Hearst (Ric) were recognized as the Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actor.
Scott Clifton (Dillon), Adrienne Leon (Brook Lynn), Ted King (Lorenzo) and Jane Elliot (Tracy) also took home honors for GH in the Outstanding Younger Lead Actor, Outstanding Female Newcomer, Favorite Villain and Favorite Villainess categories.


Meanwhile, OLTL’s Natalie/John/Evangeline saga (Melissa Archer, Michael Easton and Renee Elise Goldsberry) was voted Favorite Triangle.


CBS was completely shut out of the awards this year.
