Approximately 13 million viewers tuned in to the 13th Annual Soap Opera Digest Awards, which took place at the Universal Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA on February 28. More than 80,000 Digest readers voted, and Leeza Gibbons hosted with Austin Peck (Austin, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), Shemar Moore (Malcolm, YOUNG AND RESTLESS) and Ingo Rademacher (Jax, GENERAL HOSPITAL).

In a huge upset, GH ended DAYS's winning streak by being awarded Favorite Show. Y&R's Eric Braeden (Victor) and GH's Genie Francis (Laura) took home Lead Actor and Lead Actress trophies.
