The Soap Opera Digest Awards

Outstanding Actor and Actress in Mature Roles Macdonald Carey and Frances Reid (Tom and Alice, DAYS)

1985

DAYS OF OUR LIVES sweep in 1984 was no fluke. When the 1985 winners were announced, DAYS came out stronger than ever, winning top honors in all 13 daytime categories. (DAYS went 11 for 13 in 1984.) Peter Reckell and Deidre Hall (Bo and Marlena) were awarded Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Actress trophies, respectively.

Nighttime provided more diversity, with most top honors divided between DYNASTY and DALLAS. Alec Baldwin, who played bad boy Josh on KNOTS LANDING, won viewers' hearts -- and votes -- as Outstanding New Actor.

Again, winners were announced in a TV special, featuring popular daytime and nighttime performers...
