When DAYS’s Eric (Greg Vaughan) went up against Xander (Paul Telfer) to rescue Nicole, it gave the actor the rare opportunity to play a fight scene. The slug match was choreographed by Stunt Coordinator Terry James. “I knew we were in good hands,” says Vaughan. “The guy’s got four Emmys [three for his DAYS work, and a fourth for his gig at Y&R]. I’ve also worked with him for 15 years, but never on DAYS.” As for getting into it with Telfer, Vaughan points out, “Compared to me, Paul is this hulking figure who is all muscle.” The actors rehearsed their fight a couple of times and then performed it on camera in one take. “Paul is a very talented and underappreciated actor,” praises Vaughan. “Everyone at DAYS loves working with him. I hope that I get to work with him again.”
“Our soap fans are amazing,” declares Joshua Morrow (Nick, Y&R), who had a very unexpected run-in while he thought he was incognito. “I was in Cooperstown, New York, for a baseball tournament. It was pouring rain, so I’m in this crazy parka thing where only my nose and eyes were showing but I had sunglasses on because it was still bright. This lady came up to me, asked for my autograph and I said, ‘How did you even recognize me? There’s no part of me that you should’ve recognized.’ And she said, ‘It was your nose.’ I couldn’t believe she knew who I was just from my nose. They are very loyal to our show and so supportive of the actors. I really appreciate how much they back us, and I love meeting them at fan events. They’re so happy and full of compliments. They really enjoy meeting us in person.”
Rebecca Budig (Hayden, GH) was heartsick over the departure of her real- and reel-life friend, Jane Elliot (ex-Tracy). “Leading up to it, I was just so sad,” she recalls. “We developed a very close friendship in the short amount of time that we got to be together and work together. I felt like it was just the beginning of our journey together, but also the end of our working relationship, so it was definitely bittersweet. I’m really happy for her as a person to go off and have a different chapter in her life, so I’m excited for her next chapter, but I was also sad for us, sad for the show.” The actress was happy to have something to remember Elliot by. “She was getting rid of some things from her dressing room, giving things away to people, finding new homes for them. She found a home in my room for some of her things and then we were off for two weeks. I was looking forward to going back to work and seeing the things that Jane left in my dressing room! There are very few people that you meet in life that you connect with like I did with Jane, so I just feel very fortunate that I met her and got to work with her.”

Mick Cain is thrilled to be back at B&B and is hoping that perhaps C.J. may take a more active role in the family business. “A lot of fans are asking me that very question,” Cain reports. “And if it were up to me and some of those fans, I’d say, ‘Hell, yeah [laughs]!’ However, it is not up to me and I know that Brad [Bell, executive producer/head writer] has constructed a brilliant storyline in bringing the Spectras back. I think it’s a breath of fresh air for the show. We’re all having a blast and the fans seem to be really receptive to it.” There’s one thing that Cain hopes to do during his return engagement. “What’s probably most required are scenes between C.J. and Rick,” he notes. “Jacob [Young, Rick] and I were just babies when we joined B&B [in late 1997]. Now I have a 13-year-old son. He has three kids! Doing something with Jacob would really bring it full circle because my very first scenes were with us together. Not to mention, think of the flashbacks! Our hairstyles alone are worth the sheer entertainment value [laughs].”
