Michael called Lauren at Fenmore’s, and offered to make her dinner. She was acting very snippy, and wouldn’t promise to go over. Tom overheard the conversation, and then asked her for help picking out a necklace for a mystery woman….

Meanwhile at Michael’s, Gloria came over to tell him that Kevin was meeting with John, and to ask him to make more of an effort with his stepfather. Michael refused to make any promises, and then chased her out. Later, Lauren showed up, and chewed him out for his lack of communication. She hadn’t heard from him since he went to talk to Tom. He made her open a box that he had given her and in a nice nod to Tracy Bregman’s time on B&B, he gave her “an original Forrester.” Michael explained that Eric Forrester himself designed the dress, and when they spoke, Eric told Michael how special Lauren was to him. She protested because of the price, but he asked, “who better to spend my lottery winnings on?” She wouldn’t let him completely off the hook but agreed to get dressed and let him take her out….

At Drucilla’s request, Neil came home to scold Lily for seeing Daniel. He worried that she’d “end up paying the price for someone else’s mistakes.” She promised him she would stay away from Daniel….

Phyllis arrived home, and told Daniel she ran into Kevin’s at the Abbotts’. Daniel filled her in on Lily’s visit and Drucilla’s freak out. Daniel insisted he needed a friend, and Lily could be that for him. Phyllis told him she would always be there for him, and that he didn’t need anyone else but her. He confessed that he now knew what Kevin always felt like, that he would now be known as the town pariah. Drucilla came over and apologized to Daniel, who decided to let her and his mother have at it, while he went over to the Abbotts to drop off boxes. Dru asked Phyllis to keep their kids apart, but Phyllis retorted that Lily “is really the last thing on my mind right now.” Dru turned the talk to business, and told Phyllis that launching her fragrance line was going to be difficult without the webmaster coming into the office every day. Phyllis almost broke down as she admitted that work was the one thing keeping her going, and that “truthfully, how long is this Newman job going to last for me?” She asked Drucilla to cut her some slack. Drucilla caved, and said she’d give her some time and not hire someone else. She could understand what it was like to have a kid in trouble….

At the Chancellor Estate, Esther and Kay examined the cute new pool boy. Mackenzie came downstairs and admitted that she was bummed J.T. hadn’t called yet, but Katherine bet her $5 that she would “hear from Mr. Hellstrom by day’s end”, and advised her to give J.T. time to miss her. Just then the phone rang. It was J.T., checking to see if Katherine was home so he could pick up the rent check. After hanging up, Kay spotted the pool boy outside and asked Mac to listen to her advice on men one more time. When J.T. showed up, Kay gave him the check and then, with a very calculated look on her face, sent him out towards the pool. She observed JT watching Mac, but before he could talk to her, the pool guy came out to sit on the chaise next to her. He decided to leave, while Kay bit back a look of triumph. Mac asked what happened to JT, and Kay insisted that their little setup did bother J.T., she could read it all over his face. Mac stomped off, deciding she never should’ve agreed to play games. Kay told Esther she didn’t believe all was lost….

At the hospital, a nurse told Sharon and Nick that Cassie’s condition hadn’t changed. Cassie confessed that she had been having some weird dreams about the party and crash that she couldn’t make sense of, but she was sure she was starting to remember what happened. Her parents wanted her to focus on getting better. They were thrilled when Olivia told them that while Cassie wasn’t “out of the woods”, but she was “holding her own.” Lily approached them and asked to see Cassie. She apologized to her friend for leaving her alone with Daniel, and hoped that someday she could forgive him. Cassie said she already had. After Lily left, Cassie complained of a headache. Sharon encouraged her to go to sleep. Nick promised to ask a nurse for medication, and sent Sharon home to see Noah and rest. Sharon had another dream of the accident featuring exorcist Daniel and his creepy deep voice. This time her dream was clearer, and she could recall getting into the drivers seat of Daniel’s car while he was passed out in the back. After hearing the tires screech and the car crash, she sat straight up in bed and said, “I was driving”….

At the Abbotts’, John said he owed Kevin a great debt for saving him, and then asked why Kevin had even been there that day. Kevin admitted that he wanted to speak up for his mother, and encouraged John to give Gloria another chance. John confessed that had he opened the door that day, he would’ve shut it in Kevin’s face. “Your mother and I have insurmountable issues,” he explained, and Kevin exposited that John couldn’t get back Kevin’s past or Gloria’s lies. He tried to explain that he had changed, but John said his feelings for Kevin hadn’t changed and he didn’t expect them to….

Later Daniel brought some boxes into the Abbott house, just as Lily showed up looking for him (how did she find him there?). They embraced, and Lily told Daniel she saw Cassie at the hospital. Daniel felt like a screw up, and said that he was upset about messing everything up. Lily swore she believed in him, to which Daniel said only she, his mother, and Christine believe in him. He thought it would be better if he wasn’t in town, and told her he decided to run.

Brad came to the ranch to ask Victoria to go for a run with him. Reluctant to leave Noah, she suggested he sit for a portrait. As a compromise, they chatted on the couch, discussing Cassie and Jabot. He offered her a shoulder to cry on which she took him up on….

At the GCAC, J.T. snarked to Mackenzie about moving out. He wondered if Katherine was feeling ok, but Kay informed him that Mac moved in because she had so much space. J.T. asked if he could speak to Mac on his own, but both women were following the aloof unemotional ice queen approach which clearly unsettled him, so he went to sit at the bar and ordered a drink from Bobby, who also served up some unsolicited. Bobby pointed out that Mac was clearly crazy about him and that he either needed to step up their relationship or move on, but not to jerk her around. At the table, Mac told Katherine that she wasn’t the kind of girl who played games, but Kay had no qualms about being sneaky so she was going to save Mac from herself. When Kay was away from the table, J.T. slid in and tried to apologize. Mac accepted her apology but refused to move back in. She brushed him off and left to go shopping with her grandmother….

At the Abbotts, Phyllis demanded to know why Kevin was there, and accused him of buying Daniel beer. Gloria came upon her yelling at Kev. Phyllis insisted that she wouldn’t let Fisher worm him way into John’s life, and that “your son is con artist and I think the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” Phyllis headed upstairs, leaving Gloria to ask, “whose opinion carries more weight with John: his ex-daughter-in-law or his wife?” When Kevin hesitated, Glo responded, “don’t answer that Kevin.” John found them talking and Gloria suggested he chat with Kevin. John clearly wasn’t expecting the talk to happen that day….

At the tack house, Lily and Daniel were all cute and touchy after their kiss, which Lily pronounced as wonderful. She had worried about being “ruined” for life after her encounter with Kevin and hadn’t kissed anyone since. She was relieved that this wasn’t the case. After some more kissing, Daniel told her that they shouldn’t start something if he was leaving for a long time. He asked her to promise him that if he takes off, she won’t go with him. She refused to make that promise, insisting he needed her….

Neil stopped home to pick up his gym clothes. Drucilla complained to him about how her “Seasons” cosmetic project wasn’t moving along because Phyllis was taking too much time off at work. Neil tried to steer the blame away from Phyllis, suggesting Dru put herself in Phyllis’s shoes. Dru retorted, “our kids would never be in that boy’s funky shoes.” Neil promised to find someone to handle the Web site while Phyllis was out. Drucilla headed over to the tack house, ignorant of the young lovers making out inside….

Daniel went to answer the door, and called out, “Mrs. Winters”, while Lily dived onto the floor in front of the couch. Drucilla was about to leave when she spotted Lily’s purse and then saw Lily. She accused Daniel of luring Lily over. Daniel tried to apologize, but Drucilla ordered Lily to leave. Daniel encouraged her to go. In a poignant move, Drucilla ripped one of her daughter’s hands out of Daniel’s and for a moment, Lily stood between her mother and Daniel, with them each holding onto her. Drucilla then dragged her out….

At the hospital, Sharon and Nick talked to Dr. Jun about Cassie, and how her fever still hasn’t come down. He promised that he was doing everything he could, but Nick was frustrated at his inability to do more for the girl. Sharon admitted that she was starting to lose faith….

Meanwhile in Cassie’s room, Ali told her that Daniel had been arrested. Cassie was trying to grasp at details of that night, “I just don’t understand why I got in the car. Its not like Daniel to drive drunk. Its just weird.” She was determined to keep him from going to jail, and was about to call him to offer her support when Sharon and Nick came in. She hung up quickly, and then Nick asked Ali to leave them along so Cassie could rest. Ali, with a little wink wink, nudge nudge, promised to say hi to their “friend” for her. Cassie told her parents she didn’t want Daniel to go to jail. She drifted off to sleep soon after and had a blurry and distorted dream about the party, including an unseen car crashing while she screamed. She sat up suddenly (perhaps scared by Daniel’s exorcist voice in her dream) and then laid back down, obviously trying to figure something out.Wednesday, May 11, 2005
JT arrived at the loft, and found a note from Mac informing him that she moved out, while at the Chancellor Estate, Katherine (looking fantastic in a turquoise blazer) told Mac to stay with her until JT realized how much he missed her. Paul stopped by the loft to pick up a tape and asked “how did you screw that up?”, when he found out Mac moved out. He explained that women never outright say what they want, and recommended that JT pretend he doesn’t care, but warned him, “would I be single if I knew all the answers?” Later JT came into the GMAC where Kay and Mac were having lunch. He coolly informed Mac that she still had to pay rent until he can find another roommate….

Tom approached Ashley while she was waiting for Paul to meet her for lunch. Their casual conversation turned into an irritation for her when he tried to convince her that maybe Gloria isn’t after John for his money. He made some smooth moves on her, telling her he regretted that it had taken him so long to meet her. Paul showed up then and after Ash introduced the men, Tom took his leave (but really stole away to the back of the restaurant to creepily watch them), while Paul promised he wouldn’t ever be late for lunch again and that he’d keep an eye on Tom for her….

At the hospital, Nick ordered Daniel outside of Cassie’s room. She wanted to know if Daniel was in trouble. Daniel told Nick he hoped Cassie would be ok. Sharon joined them and inquired icily, “what part of go away don’t you understand?” He tried to apologize but she was furious and leapt at him. Nick held her back, while Daniel headed home….

Lily came home and continued to fight with Devon over Daniel, and her feelings for him. He pissed her off so much, she left, and headed over to the tack house….

At the tack house, Christine told Phyllis that Daniel would be going to jail no matter what because DUIs were being cracked down on, and since drinking and driving are considered adult activities, his age doesn’t matter. Daniel arrived, and asked what was happening, and then where Danny was. Phyllis told him she thought his father was in Canada on his way to Europe. Chris warned Daniel not to run. Later, after Phyllis headed over to the Abbotts with a load of their things, Lily came over. Daniel confessed to her that he was terrified of going to jail and wanted to run. She impulsively offered to go with him, which led to a tender moment between the two. She wished she could help him, and he told her that the moment between them was real and he would treasure it. They shared a kiss….

Kevin arrived at the Abbotts, looking quite natty in a suit and tie. He was annoyed that Gloria orchestrated his talk with John, but she convinced him to stay, telling him “John Abbott is not Tom Fisher. There couldn’t be two different men”, so he had nothing to fear because John wouldn’t hurt him. Gloria explained that Gitta was protective of her amulet. She told Kev to let John to do the talking and left . Kevin paced anxiously in the hall but finally gave up waiting and, as he flung open the door, ran straight into Phyllis. They both called out, “what the hell are you doing here,” simultaneously….

Victoria brought Noah (was he aged again?) to the hospital to see Cassie. Jack also arrived. Tension built between him and Nick until Victoria broke them up and pulled Jack into another part of the hospital, to explain how serious Cassie’s condition was. He asked how long she intended to remain in Genoa City. While she didn’t know, she indicated she would be around for a while….

In Cassie’s room, she thanked Noah for bringing her a get well card and told him he was the “coolest little brother.” After some quality time, Victoria took Noah home, and Cassie drifted off to sleep as her parents watched over her. Tuesday, May 10, 2005
At the Abbott house, John was thrilled to have “two beautiful women arguing over me,” when Gloria tried to tell Gitta she was working him too hard. While Gitta sent John off to get his coffee (good thing he’s recovering, or his extended walk to the kitchen would be a little fishy), Gloria attempted to make peace with Gitta by saying she has been too hard on her. She asked to see Gitta’s pendant, prompting the therapist to cover her cleavage and shrieked “don’t touch it!” Gitta explained that the necklace was a gift from her grandmother, who was very suspicious. Glo chatted with Gitta, but an undercurrent of a threat ran through her voice, which Gitta detected. Glo insisted that Gitta take care of the “scientific” business of helping John heal, while she’ll “take care of everything else that a wife handles”. Later John admitted that he liked Gitta. Gloria asked John if he’d give Kevin a moment and let him know he’s grateful to have been saved. Gloria tried to get him to promise to talk to Kev by saying it was wrong that he wouldn’t give Kevin time, but would let Phyllis and Daniel move into the house….

Speaking of Daniel, at the police station, Phyllis and Christine waited for Daniel to get released. When he walked out, he embraced his mother and immediately asked after Cassie. He admitted that in jail he’s “never felt so hopeless in my entire life.” He reminded Phyllis that when she was in jail, she knew she was innocent, and he didn’t have that comfort. He said it wasn’t a question of if he’d go to jail, but for how long. Phyllis hoped that Christine would be able to pull off a miracle with the DA, and made him promise not to run off to the hospital….

In the DA’s office, Christine tried to convince Glen not to “throw the book” at Daniel because she considered him to be like her own son. Glen was furious that she thought he was using Daniel as payback against Phyllis, and that the press would “have a field day if I give the rich kid with the famous dad a free pass.” He suggested that Daniel pray that Cassie doesn’t die, but either way, Daniel is facing jail time….

At the Winters apartment, Devon and Lily argued over Daniel. Devon believed Lily shouldn’t fret over a loser like Daniel, while Lily felt like Devon should have some sympathy for him. Drucilla opened the door for Malcolm who told the kids that Daniel was arrested. Devon was glad that Daniel “was going where he belonged.” While Lily hovered on the brink of tears, Mal agreed with Devon that he had the right to be mad but tried to break up their fight. Devon left. Malcolm inferred that Devon might have feelings for Lily, which she totally missed. Instead she decided she’d rather see Daniel. Malcolm promised he’d cover for her. Drucilla asked where Lily went and burst into full mama bear mode when he suggested that she stop sheltering Lily….

Sierra spotted Devon at Crimson Lights and asked him what was wrong. He wondered if Lily was in love with Daniel. Sierra asked if that would upset him. He admitted that he hated that Lily makes excuses for Daniel. Devon said he can’t look at Lily as more than family, which Sierra obviously didn’t buy….

Phyllis packed at the Tack House when Lily showed up and asked to see Daniel, then decided to wait as Daniel wasn’t there because he needed his friends now. Phyllis explained that Christine would hopefully be able to help her son, but she worried that his whole life would be screwed up. She told Lily they were moving to the Abbotts. Lily left, and later Christine showed up at the door….

At the hospital, Olivia told the Newmans that Cassie’s fever stabilized which was a good sign, but she wasn’t out of the woods yet. Nick asked Victor to bring Noah and Victoria to the hospital so they would have a chance to say good-bye if Cassie didn’t make it. Sharon caught the end of their conversation and after some discussion, agreed that Noah should come to the hospital. She and Nick exchanged “I love yous” as Nikki and Victor left for the ranch. Nick persuaded Sharon to go with him to the cafeteria. Daniel snuck into Cassie’s hospital room; she woke up and smiled adorably at him. He started to cry and told her he wished he could trade places with her. She wanted to know if he was in trouble, but he insisted he could handle whatever came his way. He sat next to her bed, holding her hand and saying it was his fault. Cassie responded, “it was an accident.” Sharon and Nick walked in and Sharon screamed at Daniel to get out.Monday, May 9, 2005
Jack tried to distract Phyllis from her worries at the Abbotts house with a moonlit picnic. She agreed to eat with him by the pool, but she couldn’t help but fret about the Newmans potentially firing her because of Daniel. Gloria and Ashley helped John into the house after his checkup. Jack asked if Phyllis and Daniel could move in. Ash and Glo were hesitant because John’s recovery. Jack chided Gloria, “You know what its like to have a son in trouble. I think you’d be the most sympathetic of all.” John told them it wasn’t in ideal situation, but that Phyllis had been a part of the family and they couldn’t turn her away. Phyllis told them their kindness would never be forgotten, and once alone with Jack thanked him for always going to bat for her.

At the Winters, Neil and Drucilla discussed Lily. Neil deduced that Dru was being so overprotective because she was picturing Lily in Cassie’s place. Lily came home and Dru demanded to know where she had been. Lily explained that she had taken a walk in the park, and lied a little by saying she was with Uncle Malcolm. Drucilla stormed off after arguing with Lily and Neil told her to take it easy on Drucilla, and suggested they go shopping for Mother’s Day as a gesture to Dru…. Meanwhile at Fenmore’s, Lauren tried to help Devon pick out a gift, but ended up suggesting that he give Dru something from his heart. He took off with an idea…. Drucilla examined a picture of Neil and Lily, and wondered what kind of mother she was. She was so overwrought that when Devon came home, she scolded him for not coming home sooner. Lily and Neil arrived then and Lily presented her mother with a gift, saying, “no matter how it may seem sometimes, I really do love you and I always will.” Dru was thrilled with the broach. Lily tried to give Devon the credit too but he read a poem that he had written, bringing Drucilla to tears. The Winters family bonded over the early Mother’s Day celebration.

Christine continued to grill Daniel about his relationship with Cassie. He denied knowing her well and couldn’t figure out what she was doing in his car. Daniel asked Chris to be honest with him and tell him what he was facing; she admitted that he could face a sentence of 1-12 years in jail, and that was only if Cassie survived. Later Detective Weber showed up to arrest him for aggravated driving under the influence. Daniel agreed to comply but then broke down when they tried to take him to the station. Phyllis arrived home then and the threat of her making things worse calmed Daniel down and he allowed Weber to take him away.

At the hospital, Sharon and Nikki discussed the success of Cassie’s surgery, and that her skull fracture was repaired. They decided to make plans for “all of the Newman women” to go to Italy that summer. Dr. Jun informed Sharon that Cassie was starting to wake up, and they could see her in a few moments. Close by them, Nicholas wondered if he should tell Sharon about the risk of infection that could kill Cassie. Victor insisted that Cassie was strong, but that he shouldn’t give Sharon false hope. They sat down with Nikki and Sharon and explained about possible infections. Sharon refused to give up hope. Dr. Jun announced that Cassie was stabilized but that she was running a fever, which was a cause for concern. They were permitted to see her though, so they stood over her bed, while a touching montage of Cassie ran. A single tear ran down Nick’s cheek, while Daniel was carted off to jail and the Winters bonded. Then Cassie’s eyes opened, just as Daniel was posing for his mug shot. All in all, a very dramatic day in Genoa City.
