Christine questioned Sharon about the accident, but Sharon bristled when she found out Chris is representing Daniel. Cassie’s best friend Ali came to visit and let it slip to Christine that Cassie had a crush on Daniel. Back at the office, Chris and Michael bounced ideas off each other, but neither asked the obvious: Is it possible CASSIE was driving?
Victor and Nick flew in a specialist, who said Cassie could die. “Infection is a huge concern,” he warned. “A piece of her skull was pushed into her brain,” he added. Nick decided not to tell Sharon that Cassie might die. Olivia announced the operation was a success, but Nick accused Liv of not leveling with them about Cassie’s condition. “There are never any guarantees,” responded Dr. Winters.
Malcolm (yes, he’s still on the show!) didn’t think Neil and Dru were handling the situation with Lily correctly. “The kid is being treated like an outcast now. That can make him more attractive to Lily,” Lily’s biological father surmised. Neil told Malcolm to butt out.
Lily and Daniel went for a walk in the park, which is where this whole nightmare began. Malcolm jogged by (what a coincidence!) and offered some comforting words to the alleged drunk driver. “It was an accident,” the Lion King reassured. Malcolm and Lily shared a tender father/daughter moment, except she still doesn’t know he’s her father.
Gloria and Kevin barged in on Michael with a big problem — Gitta. Glo: “What kind of name is Gitta anyway?” Kevin on “Gee-Tah”: “She certainly was hot, though.” Michael: “You leave his therapy to the therapist.” “If she’s a real therapist, I’m the mayor of Genoa City,” Glo sniped. Meanwhile, back at the Abbott house, Gitta stroked John’s…ego…by saying he’s still a virile guy. Then she asked to move in, and John agreed. What red-blooded man wouldn’t?
NuMac (who was almost NuVictoria) fired up the laptop to help Katherine find a date. Katherine turned her focus to Mac and suggested that she move out so J.T. will miss her.
Christine arrived at the ranch and asked Daniel point-blank if he was sleeping with Cassie.

Kevin arrived at the Abbotts, where Gloria vented to him about Gitta a.k.a. “Nurse Ratched” and the “Swedish Calvary”. She was furious that Gitta was going to be spending so much time with John, when she wanted to be the one to nurse her husband back to health. Kevin insisted that she needed to do something (he thought Gitta was going to hurt John) because one should always protect the people they love, which immediately raised Glo’s suspicions. Kevin, of course, didn’t reveal that Terrible Tom had been in town and his mother was touched by his concern and embraced him. (It’s incredibly how Judith Chapman can make her eyes all glistening and never actually shed a tear). Gitta came out and met Kevin, who stood behind his mother protectively, although he cast an appraising eye over the physical therapist. They learned that Ashley filled Gitta in on “the delicate situation in this home,” causing Glo to assert her authority. “I am Mrs. John Abbott. I am the lady of the house and I will be treated with respect.” She explained that John could have died had Kevin not rescued him. Gitta went to check on John and Kevin hilariously cracked his knuckles as he and his mother decided to join forces against the therapist….
Bobby confronted Brittany on where she really went the night before. “So you didn’t go by Marsino’s and talk to Angelo,” he asked when she insisted she went out for ice cream. She admitted the truth and asked him about the diamonds. He told her he took the job because he felt overwhelmed by his new responsibilities and having to provide for her and their baby. He decided to give the diamonds back, but when he went to Vinny’s office and told him he changed his mind, Vinny demanded all his money back, not just part of it. Bobby accused Vinny of pretending to be a bill collector from the hospital and harassing Brittany, then told him their “days of doing business are over.” Bobby returned home and told Brittany what he did, they embraced and all was well in the land of ex-mobsters and the women who love them….
Daniel, looking like he was trying to channel Ray Charles in super dark sunglasses showed up at the coffee house, and awkwardly peering out from under a baseball cap, asked Lily for help. He admitted he didn’t remember the accident just as Neil and Drucilla showed up and flipped out when they saw their daughter with Daniel. A reporter came up to Daniel as Neil was reaming him out and tried to ask him questions, insisting that this was a great story: “the son of a rock star (Danny mention!) and the granddaughter of a billionaire.” Drucilla called Daniel maleficent (like the Sleeping Beauty baddy?). Neil told the reporter that Daniel deserves whatever he got. Daniel was booted from the coffee house when he insisted “I can’t even remember what happened last night and everyone’s treating me like a monster.”… At the hospital, Victor and Victoria wondered why Detective Weber was there. Victor was touched when Victoria insisted she wanted to be present for her bother. She couldn’t imagine how Nick was feeling at that moment, and then reassured Victor that he was a great father because his heart was always in the right place….
Phyllis asked Nikki how Cassie was, and learned she has a depressed skull fracture and needs surgery. Phyllis apologizes and asked if she could do anything. Nikki told her “you and your son can start looking for a new place to live;”; she ordered Phyllis and Daniel out by the end of the week….
Elsewhere in the hospital, Cassie asked her parents if she was going to be all right. Sharon comforted her, but explained she would need surgery. Weber came in to ask her about the accident. Cassie responds, “what accident?” The last thing she remembered was being at the party with Ali and that she did see Daniel drinking, but hadn’t drank anything herself. She doesn’t think it makes sense that she and Daniel were in a car together, especially if he was driving. Part of her was glad she didn’t remember the accident because she didn’t want to get in trouble. Victoria hugged her brother and insisted she was glad she stayed in town to be there for him. When she left to tell Nikki Cassie was awake, Nick asked Victor to find him a specialist if the surgery is unsuccessful, then admitted that he was trying to stay strong for his family but was actually terrified. Victor assured him that Cassie “is strong and will fight like hell to get better.” Nick returned to Cassie’s side, while Victor stood alone, his face devastated and eyes glittery (Eric Braeden could give Chapman a run for her money with the moist eyes ting!). Later all the Newmans gathered in Cassie’s room to offer her pre-surgery encouragement. Cassie cried that she didn’t think, “I’ve ever been more scared in my entire life.” She told Victoria she was glad her aunt remained in town. Nikki explained that they were going to go to Italy that summer. Cassie asked Nick to tell Noah that he’s the greatest little brother in the world (and there go the tears again), and that she loves her family….
Jack arrived at the Tack House and Phyllis greeted him with an intense hug. She told him about Weber warning Daniel about facing charges, and that Nikki was kicking her out. Jack basically ordered her to move into the Abbott house with Daniel, and that he wouldn’t ever go anywhere no matter how much else she lost. (sigh)….
Lily found Daniel in the park, and told him she’s ready to listen to him.

Phyllis asked Daniel if his head hurt because of the accident or because of the hangover. Det. Weber came to ask Daniel questions. Phyllis said they weren’t talking till their lawyer arrived. Enter Christine. Daniel began to panic and couldn’t remember what happened. “Something’s not adding up here,” he freaked. Christine suggested calling Danny, who must be singing Rock On in Europe. Finally, Phyllis thanked Christine for coming out to the ranch (my, my, how times have changed — Phyllis once tried to mow down Chris with a car but hit Paul instead!).
Olivia informed Dru about the accident, and she shared the news with Neil, Devon and Lily. This led to a preachy conversation about the dangers of drunk driving. (“The juice is tricky,” Dru noted.) Lily questioned why Cassie would get into the car with Daniel since he was so plastered. Good question.
The Newmans — including Victoria, who never got on that plane back to Italy — waited patiently for news at the hospital. Sharon reminded Nick that she didn’t want to let Cassie go out. (It was dumb-dumb Nick’s decision.) Victoria tried to comfort Sharon and Nick; Nick scowled. Cassie came to when Sharon and Nick were in the room. “Tell me I’m going to be all right,” she cried. We hope so, Cassie!
The Abbotts discussed the accident, until Gloria announced John had to exercise. Ashley informed her that they hired a physical therapist. Enter Norwegian bombshell Gitta. “Dad, your physical therapist is here,” Jack grinned. Yeah, her and her boobs. Naturally, Gloria was horrified. Ashley and Jack couldn’t contain their glee. John got up and grabbed his walker, which he must have borrowed from PASSIONS’ Mrs. Wallace.
Bobby made Brittany decaf. They wondered where the gifts were coming from, since Nikki didn’t send them. Later, while polishing Bobby’s shoes (!), Brittany examined the diamonds, which aren’t this girl’s best friend.

Michael handed Tom a check for $10,000 so he’ll leave town. Before he left, he sneered, “you know, I think I’m startling to like Genoa City,” and told Mikey to take good care of Kevin and give “Mrs. Abbott” his best. Kevin stopped by later and was pissed that his brother paid off Tom. “How could you cave into that bastard?” Kev asked, believing that Tom wouldn’t be satisfied with only $10,000. Michael replied that he just bought Kevin time to prepare himself mentally to face his father again because if he can learn to handle Tom, he can accomplish anything and move on with his life. Mikey convinced Kevin not to tell Gloria that Tom was aware of her marriage to John….
Phyllis showed up at the Abbott house with a chocolate cake “for John”, that just happened to be Jack’s favorite. She tried to get him to forgive her, but he didn’t take the bait, as he was distracted by Gloria’s presence. Phyllis thought she and Gloria had a lot in common because they would do anything they could to hold onto their Abbott man.”You want me back so bad,” she insisted to Jack, but he told her that “just because I can’t keep my hands off you doesn’t mean I want you back.” Just as they were about to kiss, Gloria burst in. The women met, but a phone call from Olivia broke up the party as Phyllis learned Daniel was in a car accident….
Later Ashley got John settled. He told her that “Gloria means well.” Glo was touched that John wanted her to stay and help with his recovery. Despite Ash’s protests, John insisted Gloria stay in the house. Gloria told John “I means it when I said in sickness and in health, for better or worse.” Outside, someone lurked and observed the Abbotts. … Bobby and Brittany discussed the anonymous bassinet. She thought Nikki sent it. When a bill from the hospital arrived, Bobby was sick of being hounded by collectors. He insisted on going to the hospital to pay off the bill. Britt wondered how he could pay it and he showed her a wad of cash, saying someone owed him money. Brittany accidentally stumbled across the diamonds and went to Angelo to demand he take them back. He told her go to home and forget about what happened, because that’s what he’s planning to do….
Meanwhile at the hospital, the Newmans arrived and learned that Cassie was unconscious, and that she had been in a car with someone. Sharon broke down asking, ‘Nick, how could this happen, we shouldn’t have let her go out tonight.” She beat herself up for letting Cassie convince them to let her go out. Olivia told them that Cassie wasn’t hearing her seatbelt, and that until she got a CAT scan, they wouldn’t know the extent of her head trauma. Detective Weber arrived, informing the Newmans that Daniel was in the car, just as Phyllis came in. Sharon launched herself at Phyllis, screaming “how could you?”….
Bobby asked a nurse where to pay his bill and was irritated that he couldn’t find someone to pay. He ran into Nikki who was happy he stayed in town but told him she wanted to keep her distance. “So is that why you sent the gifts?” he asked. Nikki said she didn’t send the presents. She told him that, “Cassie was seriously injured in a car accident.” Bobby hugged Nikki and said he’d light a candle for her in the chapel, and told her to keep in touch….
Phyllis bit back tears as she sat next to Daniel’s bed. His face was cut up, but he came to and said, “Mom, what’s up?” “On nothing much,” she replied, “I was gonna ask you the same thing.” Daniel told her he thinks he was in a wreck, but that he couldn’t remember what happened. Phyllis told him that Cassie was in the car with him and was still unconscious. “She’s gonna be all right, right mom?” He asked, his voice breaking, “Tell me, she’s gonna be all right.” Phyllis told him she loved him and left to find a doctor. In the hospital lobby, Jack checked in with Ashley, while Bobby showed a man from the billing department his bill. He was told no calls are made by collection agents until after six months. The man was shocked to receive an envelope of cash. Jack comforted Nikki. “What was she doing in the car with Daniel Romalotti,” Nikki asked, “That’s what I don’t understand.” She spotted Phyllis, who brushed past her, saying she couldn’t talk now. Olivia told the Newmans they could see Cassie, who had been through the CAT scan. Jack wrapped his arms around Phyllis, and then went to fetch Olivia to talk to her about Daniel. Detective Weber showed up and told Phyllis that Daniel could be facing some jail time for vehicular homicide since he was driving drunk. The Newmans stood over Cassie’s bed while everyone tried to choke back tears (including the recapper) as they watched her unconscious form….
Unaware of what was happening at the hospital, Lily sat in Crimson Lights with Devon and Sierra, worrying about leaving Daniel. She speculated that Daniel got wasted that night for “liquid courage,” in order to tell her what the real reason why he wouldn’t see her anymore. Devon insisted that the “sooner you get over the guy, the better.” Lily regretted leaving Daniel alone, but didn’t want to go back to the party.

Victor tried to stop a bitter Victoria from going back to Italy. Nikki interrupted Sharon and Nick’s romantic evening and suggested taking Cassie and Noah on a trip to Italy to visit their aunt. Nick pooh-poohed the idea (of course), saying he wanted to give Cassie a job at Newman. Nikki accused him of being spiteful — but maybe he’s just plain stupid.
Brittany babied Bobby when he came home from a tough night at work. It got even more sappy when the baby kicked, but then a mysterious package was delivered — a crib, no card. Hmm…
TT and Michael came face to face. Michael warned him never to threaten Kevin again. TT threw in Michael’s face that he walked out on Kevin. “You’re as much to blame as I am,” he drawled, before asking for a handout. “News flash, Tommy — Kevin didn’t win the jackpot. I did. Kevin is broke.” TT’s bubble was burst, but he warned he was going after Gloria. Michael offered him $10,000 to leave GC, but TT didn’t bite.
Dru ran into Phyllis at Crimson Lights. They bickered about their kids, as usual. Meanwhile, at the party in the park, Lily gave Daniel the cold shoulder (“Poor Daniel,” sighed poor Cassie from the sidelines.) Cassie cozied up to Danny boy, who grumbled about freshman being at the party. Later, Daniel tried to spirit Lily away, but Devon stopped her. A dejected Daniel drank more beer, got into his car and passed out. Cassie found him and said she’d get him home safe. “I’ve driven around the ranch a hundred times.”
Dr. Olivia called Nick and said Cassie was in a car accident. Clearly, Cassie needed a few more whirls around the ranch.
