Carmen asked Victoria how Newman Enterprises was going to handle Dru’s recent violation of the protective order. “There’s only one acceptable solution at this point,” Carmen noted. “I want you to fire her.” When Victoria pointed out that firing Dru would hurt the company, Carmen threatened to call her attorney if Mrs. Winters wasn’t terminated.
Michael comforted Lauren as more efforts were implemented to halt her contractions. To be safe, the doctor also administered a drug to speed along the development of the baby’s lungs. The contractions started coming faster so the doctor announced it was time to deliver her baby. Lauren gave birth to a boy but the infant wasn’t breathing and was whisked to the natal intensive care unit. Lauren had to stay behind so Michael followed to check on the situation. He returned to report that their son was putting up a good fight. “When I reached my hand into the incubator, he grabbed my finger,” the new daddy smiled. Lauren lost a lot of blood and needed a transfusion.
Kevin, Gloria, Paul and Phyllis slept all night in the hospital waiting room. Paul continued to be suspicious that something Michael did caused Lauren a lot of stress.
Even though she didn’t get much sleep, Dru dressed to the nines for the office but had second thoughts about going. “I don’t know if I can face everybody at work,” she lamented but Neil encouraged his wife to be strong. Neil went to the office and tried to make amends with Carmen. She announced that she gave the district attorney the videotape of Dru attacking her. “This has gone way too far, Carmen,” Neil groaned but she was unmoved. “I thought you were a decent man,” Carmen huffed. “You and Dru deserve each other.”
At Victoria’s behest, Dru stopped by for a meeting. Victoria explained that not protecting Carmen in the work place would open Newman Enterprises to huge liability. “I’m sorry,” said Vic “We have to let you go.” Dru was relieved that, for now, it would be an unpaid leave of absence. Victoria ordered Dru to clear out her office within an hour. Dru packed her belongings and said good-bye to Neil. After she was gone, Neil encountered Carmen, who was unsympathetic to Dru’s plight. “You’re not a very nice lady,” Neil noted.
At Crimson Lights Colleen informed her professor that her term paper topic was going to be on the Grugeon Collection. Adrian surmised that, except for a few pieces recovered after World War II, most of the collection is owned by “very discreet, very private collectors.” Victoria arrived to give Colleen a ride and was introduced to Adrian. Victoria expressed interest in acquiring some Medieval artifacts and Adrian offered his help and business card. Colleen and Victoria went out to find that the latter’s car had been broken into.
