Lauren was frantic over the mysterious baby gift. Meanwhile, Michael was bummed about his grandmother’s death. Enter Gloria, who thanked Michael from preventing Jack’s takeover (or so she thought), because then she would have been fired. She went to Jabot and sent a lovely e-mail to the boss of House of Kim, pointing up her previous contributions to Jabot.

At Fenmore’s, Lauren freaked when she saw a Sheila look-alike. She called Paul, who, it turns out, is the one who sent the baby gift (“I could have sworn I wrote a card.”).

Victor wondered why Jack was coping with the sale of Jabot so well. Nick was also surprised. “Sharon is helping me get through it,” Jack said, rubbing Nick’s nose in it. In the elevator, John gave Jack hell for seducing Sharon.

As Sharon helped Jack get dressed for work, John reappeared to reprimand Jack again. John followed Jack home, where he joined in on a conversation between him and Ashley (although Ash didn’t know her father was there). Back at the office, John appeared in chains, right out of a Dickens novel. When John was done, Phyllis burst in, attacking Jack for canceling the NVP/Jabot tie-in. When Phyllis left, Victor showed up with Zapato. Zapato kept barking at the ghost of John. When Mr. Kim called Jack about firing Gloria, Jack didn’t pull the trigger, since John was breathing down his neck. Instead, he instructed Mr. Kim to keep Glo on staff.

Nick informed Sharon that he’s throwing Phyllis a surprise engagement party. “Thanks for letting me know,” she responded, barely concealing her gall. At the GCAC, Phyllis was planning her own surprise birthday party for Nick. She spotted Ashley, and told her she was sorry about Jabot.

End of episode, Sharon gave Phyllis a hard time and, in the process, blew the secret about the engagement party (Oops!); Gloria gloated to Jack that House of Kim is keeping her on; and Victor talked about Jack to his dog.
