Brad and Victoria got held up at the office after the Newman launch. Victoria, Brad and Nick proudly showed Victor that day’s figures. Finally, the team wrapped for the night. Later, Nick admitted to his pop that he and Sharon are having problems, but was pleased that he and Victoria managed to work well as a team.

Meanwhile, Abby’s birthday party was well under way at Crimson Lights. Ashley worried that Abby would be disappointed if Brad didn’t arrive soon, but Sharon had faith that he’d be there. Soon, Katherine and Esther arrived, with Esther dressed as a clown. The kids played games and were enjoying themselves, but Abby sulked, wishing Brad were there. Ash was surprised that Brad had asked Sharon to go to the party to calm Abby for him. Ashley cheered up her daughter by having her open presents. Finally, Brad arrived with Victoria, just in time for the cake to be cut. Brad thanked Sharon for helping him out. Abby then gave Sharon a picture of herself for her wallet. As Sharon went to put the picture away, she came across her wallet pics of Cassie, and tried not to cry. Later, Ashley told off Brad for being late and upsetting their daughter. Abby caught her folks arguing and took off.

J.T. met with Victor and assured Vic that if anything were wrong with the Newman computers, his computer expert would find it. Victor admitted that the launch had been a success, but he still had his suspicions that something had been done to the computers. Later, J.T. called Victor and reported that his person had backed out. Vic told him to find someone else ASAP, so J.T. asked Kevin if he’d help him out.

Phyllis was furious with Jack for telling Jill that he’d asked Phyll to mess with the Newman computers. Phyllis told him that she couldn’t do what she wanted. Jack was angry that she didn’t sabotage the computers after all. Phyll pointed out that she didn’t want to be arrested for industriual sabotage. Jack wanted her to go back and get inside the system, but she refused. She urged Jack to end his feud with Victor, explaining that it’s ruining her and Jack’s relationship. Jack didn’t think he could do this, so Phyllis stormed out.

Lauren was confused as to why Brenda (really Sheila) didn’t want Scott to get their book published. Scott angrily stated that he’s never working with another writer again. Lauren wanted to confront Brenda, but Scott defended his friend. Lauren again asked her son what his novel is about, but he again refused to talk. Scott called Brenda “harmless,” and asked his mother to let the matter drop. Lauren agreed, but then went to presumably pick up some food … when, of course, what she really did was go to see Brenda. Brenda wasn’t in her room, but Lauren entered anyway — and came across the manuscript.

Michael quizzed Jennifer (really Sheila) about her role in Tom getting released from jail. He then told her that he thinks she’s the one who delivered the poison which had affected Lauren. Jennifer played dumb, but Michael didn’t buy it and spelled out why he thinks Jen is connected to the crime. Mikey threatened to ruin her life if she didn’t talk, but Jennifer still insisted that she’s innocent. She revealed that Tom had made threats against Michael and the only reason she helped Tom was because Gloria had asked. She suggested that Tom had planted the poison before he was arrested. After Michael left, Jen looked up and saw Tom standing in front of her. She offered to help him with his Michael problem, if he helped her take care of Lauren. Later, Mike asked Scott for details on when the necklace went missing. Scott shared that it disappeared at the hospital; Michael concluded that this happened when Tom had been there.
