Phyllis and Nicholas, happy from having spent the night together, discussed their plans for the day. He intended to check on Sharon; she wanted to visit John. Before heading out, they kissed.
Sharon had a flashback of being kidnapped. Drucilla saw that she was upset and asked her pal what was going on. Sharon said that she’s concerned about Noah, but Dru didn’t buy that. Sharon then said that she’s concerned about Dru and all the drama Dru’s going through with Neil. Soon, Nick stopped by and told her that he’s not letting her go through everything alone. Sharon told him that she has Dru to help her and that it’s too hard for her to deal with Nick living there.
Dru went to the office and apologized to Neil for jumping to conclusions about him and Carmen. Neil said he was sorry for ruining her romantic surprise for him. Nick came by and Dru left; Neil didn’t want to fill in Nick on what was going on with him and his wife…. Nick then ran into Victoria, who had harsh words regarding Sharon…. Meanwhile, Carmen berated Dru for constantly attacking her…. Dru went to see Neil again and told him that she’s going to stay with Sharon for a few days. Neil agreed that this was a good idea. Later, Lily arrived with good news: she passed physics and finally graduated from high school.
Nikki called Hope and questioned her about Victor. Hope reported that he’s okay, but went to a monastery. Nikki was frustrated that she couldn’t give her more information. Hope was confident that Victor would get in touch with Nikki soon.
At the hospital, Gloria sat with John as Jack and Ashley sadly watched. Gloria told him how special he’d made her feel. “You loved me enough to never give up on me,” she cried, “no matter what I did … I vowed to never give up on you, but I’ll let you go. If that’s what’s best for you.” Lauren and Michael arrived to support her. Glo was moved to tears when Lauren’s baby kicked…. In John’s room, Jack thanked his father for keeping them such a close family. “You held us together with the sheer force of your love,” he said. “The damndest thing is, I don’t know who I’m going to turn to now for advice.” “Jackie, you just have to look inside your heart and that’s where you’ll find Dad,” Ashley sobbed. Traci then arrived and went to see her dad. “There are too many things I have to do with you and too many things I have to say to you,” she cried. She then became hysterical and hugged her siblings. “What are we going to do without him?”…. Jill and Kay cried over losing John. “He was my closest, dearest friend,” said Kay. “He was mine, too,” agreed Jill…. Phyllis came to the hospital to pay her respects. “Your dad’s a good man,” she whispered. “I love him, too … you know you’re doing the right thing.” She then went to say good-bye to John. “You were a great father-in-law and a great friend. Thank you for being a part of my life,” she said. Later, the doctor came out and told them that it’s time to officially say farewell. Jack, Ashley, Jill, Kay, Billy, Traci, Lauren, Michael, J.T., Colleen, Brad and Kevin joined hands and said a prayer, while Gloria stayed by John’s side. Then each person said good-bye to him…. Victoria came to the hospital and picked right then, in the waiting room, to quiz Brad about Sharon and his feelings for her (Victoria). Brad insisted that he loves her… In John’s room, Gloria took John’s hand as his life support was turned off. As his shellshocked loved ones watched him die, the following montage took place: Phyllis and Nick went for her ultrasound…. Brad went to see Sharon…. Nikki and Victoria stood sadly before Victor’s portrait at Newman…. A weeping Gloria rested her head on John’s body, while a stunned Jack stared, unable to speak as his father flatlined…. Phyllis and Nick stared in awe at their baby on the monitor.
