Wedded Miss
Margo and Bill, 1989
After looking-for-love-in-all-wrong-places Margo struck out with Eric, Ridge and Clarke, she set her sights on widower Bill Spencer, who also happened to be a publishing tycoon. His daughter Caroline didn’t approve of the relationship, but couldn’t stop her father and Margo from tying the knot. It wasn’t long before the marriage began stalling and along the way, he trysted with Julie, while Margo was tempted to have affairs with Clarke and Taylor’s ex-husband, Blake. After helping her brother, Jake, cope with a serious personal problem (he had been repeatedly molested by their uncle), Margo finally bid farewell to her loveless union with Bill, and the siblings moved home to Wisconsin.
Sally and Clarke, 1990
Tired of being single, Sally decided that hunky, much-younger Clarke would make a suitable husband. However, he wasn’t as amenable to such an arrangement — until Sal offered him half of her fashion house after two years of monogamous matrimony were completed. Clarke agreed and a very tumultuous two years commenced (he slipped once, but his wife forgave the affair). When Clarke jumped in bed with ex-wife Kristen just minutes before his two-year deadline was up, a fed-up Sally kicked him out.
Taylor and Prince Omar, 1994
While the royal Moroccan nursed a gravely injured Taylor, her loved ones back in the U.S. thought she had perished in a plane crash. The prince was instantly smitten with his beautiful patient and named her Laila. When Taylor decided that returning to her former life would cause too many complications, she accepted Omar’s proposal. They wed in his palace among orchids and singing orphans, but he was soon frustrated that she didn’t want to consummate their marriage. When her father had a heart attack, Taylor rushed back to L.A. and left her regal trappings — including Omar — behind.
Macy and Thorne, 2000
Even though Thorne and Macy had been married twice before and were now engaged for round three, Thorne found himself falling in love with Brooke. He dumped Macy, then flew to Italy with Brooke for a romantic getaway. There, Eric and Ridge plotted to break up the lovers by staging a compromising situation with Brooke for Thorne to walk in on. The ruse worked: Thorne was devastated and eloped with Macy, but once he found out about his family’s scheme he longed to be with Brooke again. Macy learned of his true desire, fell off the wagon and died in a car accident.
Lord Have Macy!
Brooke and Whip, 2002
Brooke was desperate to hide the fact that her son-in-law, Deacon, was the father of her baby, so opportunistic Whip was only too happy to claim responsibility. But what Whip assumed would be a money-making venture soon became complicated when he unexpectedly developed deep feelings for Brooke. As part of their charade, the couple married, and Whip hoped that Brooke would learn to love him. She never did and once her baby’s true paternity was exposed, Whip consented to an annulment so they could both move on with their lives.
