Van Rocks The High Seas
AS THE WORLD TURNS’s Van Hansis (Luke) was navigating New York’s Union Square (and passing actress Kirsten Dunst!) while he dished Luke’s upcoming story with Weekly. He also raved about attending a recent soap cruise from March 20 to 23.
Soap Opera Weekly: Did you have fun on the cruise?
Van Hansis: Yeah, I did! I still feel like I’m rockin’ right now. I’m walking down the street and I still feel like I’m on a boat. I haven’t got my land legs back.
Weekly: Was it great to hang out with all the fans?
Hansis: The best part about it was that you kind of got to know the fans a little bit more, because it wasn’t so rushed. You were there for three days. So that was cool.
Weekly: I was reading a few cruise recaps on various sites and apparently you and Jake (Silbermann, Noah) had some fun with bears?
Hansis: With some teddy bears! Fans made us Build a Bears. They made one for Noah and one for Luke, and we reenacted [scenes] with teddy bear Luke and Noah.
Weekly: Well, there were definitely rave reviews of your appearance!
Hansis: I’m glad. We had a good time, and I think we even made some new fans!
Weekly: And you got to hang out with people from other shows, too, right?
Hansis: My favorite person on [the cruise] was Melissa Egan (Annie, AMC). She’s awesome. We all hung out and — Kirsten Dunst just walked by!
Weekly: Neat! I never have sightings like that in the city!
Hansis: In Union Square, Kirsten Dunst…who knew?
Weekly: I never notice famous people walking around.
Hansis: I rarely notice, but I did that time!
Weekly: You probably don’t realize that people are noticing you, going, “Oh, Van Hansis just walked by!”
Hansis: [laughs] Yeah, right.
