The Top 10 Ways To Revamp DAYS

Comments

DAYS OF OUR LIVES is about to undergo a major overhaul under the direction of new head writer Hogan Sheffer, so as the Emmy-winning scribe looks to return the NBC soap to its glory days, here are 10 changes that would make a big, bold difference.

1. Hope is pregnant with Patrick’s baby — not! Bo and Hope fans cried foul the last time DAYS tried to force that story on the Salem supercouple. In fact, when Paula Cwikly and Peter Brash inherited the head writing duties from Tom Langan they immediately reversed course and made Bo, not John, the late Zack’s daddy. Reveal that The Gloved Hand tampered with the DNA results so that Bo can be the baby’s father.

2. Sami gets therapy. She has endured one disastrous wedding attempt after another, not to mention lying, manipulating and blackmailing others. It’s time for this immature brat to face facts: She’s a mess and needs counseling to get her act together. Surely mom Marlena can recommend a good shrink.

3. The show’s 20-somethings must stop reproducing. How many barely-adult newlyweds are as obsessed with procreating as Salem’s lot — or willing to go to extremes like in vitro fertilization and surrogacy? It’s time to stop saddling the likes of Belle, Mimi, Shawn and Philip with babies.4. Darin Brooks (Max) gets a real story. Since debuting in 2005, the young actor has had precious little to do besides look good. Granted, he’s quite adept at that, but the talented Brooks deserves more. Start by severing all ties with The Bad Seed (Chelsea) and finding somebody more worthy.

5. Kate finally stops trying to run her children’s lives and gets one of her own. Not only is it ridiculous to see a grown woman behaving so badly, but the fact that Kate’s kids have tolerated it for so many years is unconscionable. Kate is a beautiful, successful businesswoman. Surely, there are other things for her to focus on — her job, charity work, her own love life — besides meddling.

6. The dead stay dead. It has gotten to the point where it’s impossible to muster a sniffle, let alone a tear, for the dearly “departed” when fans know he/she will turn up alive in a matter of months.
7. Give Bonnie a romance. Judi Evans’ portrayal of the wild, wacky Bonnie lost something when her marriage to Mickey ended. She needs a new man to sink her teeth into. Lonely cop Roman, filthy rich Victor, and scorned Abe are all available.

8. Billie stops falling for the wrong men. First it was Bo, then Patrick, now Kayla’s beloved Steve. Yikes! Perhaps Billie should try on-line dating or, better yet, focus on Princess Wilhelmina Cosmetics for a while.

9. Bring back Eric. Sami’s twin brother has been MIA ever since Jensen Ackles left in 2000. The time has come to recast the pivotal role of Roman and Marlena’s only son. If anyone could help Sami turn her life around (besides that therapist), it’s her long-lost brother.

10. Recast or kill off Mickey. Poor Maggie has been wandering, husband-less ever since John Ingle left to return to GENERAL HOSPITAL months ago. It’s time to address this situation. It’s getting silly.
