2004 (cont.)
Shortly after Todd was released from jail, Blair called him from New York to ask for his help to find a missing Starr. The two worked together to find Starr. Todd and Blair worked together again to save Starr when Travis, the young boy who she ran off with in New York, came to Llanview. They grew closer, renewing their love, but Todd’s rivalry with Kevin added new complications to their relationship. In order to get underground information about Buchanan Enterprises, Todd manipulated the accountant Margaret Cochran by pretending to be romantically interested in her. When Todd and Blair reunited, Margaret was left alone. The deranged accountant tried to convince Blair that she was having an affair with Todd, but Blair did not believe her, and her trust in Todd only strengthened their relationship. When Todd and Blair tried to move into Asa’s mansion, Todd noticed an error in documents that gave Blair legal ownership of Asa’s property. An enraged Asa tormented Blair and Todd, who survived a gunshot wound. Todd was confronted with a gun again when Margaret confronted him on the day of his wedding to Blair. When Todd attempted to escape, Margaret shot him in both legs and forced him to write a letter to Blair telling her that he wouldn’t be able to go through with the wedding.
2005
Margaret kidnapped Todd and took him to an isolated cabin where she threatened Blair’s life if he wouldn’t impregnate her. After having sex with Margaret (who would later find out that she was pregnant!) Todd escaped and was found by longtime enemy Kevin, who agreed to take him home and help find a missing Blair. In a moment of intense vulnerability, Todd confessed to Kevin that Margaret raped him and Kevin agreed to keep Todd’s secret. Todd rescued Blair, who was placed in a mental hospital by Asa, and the Mannings were momentarily reunited. The secret of Todd’s rape put a major strain on Todd and Blair’s relationship, but the two were eventually able to achieve intimacy and planned to marry again. Todd soon learned that Margaret was back in Llanview and intended to kill her. Wicked Dr. Spencer Truman saved Todd after he was stabbed by Margaret and agreed to keep his secret. Todd trapped Margaret on a rowboat in the middle of the lake, originally intending to kill her. Margaret’s body was found shortly after and Todd was immediately arrested. Todd assured everyone that he was innocent and vowed to keep Spencer, who he believed was involved in framing him, away from Blair.
2006
Although his lawyer Evangeline wholeheartedly dedicated herself to Todd’s defense, Todd was convicted and sentenced to death for Margaret’s murder. Todd escaped only to find out that Blair and Spencer, who manipulated Blair into believing that Todd was guilty, were sleeping together. Todd received a lethal injection and actually died, but John and Natalie, at the last minute, brought Margaret into the execution, proving that she was alive. Spencer saved Todd’s life, but the resurrected Todd would not forgive Blair. Spencer was arrested for the murder of John’s father, partly thanks to Blair’s undercover work, but Todd still wouldn’t forgive her. Spencer wasn’t convicted, however, because a newly-returned Marty Saybrooke testified that he was mentally unfit to stand trial. Todd kidnapped Spencer before he could get to the mental institution. Blair found Todd and Spencer at the warehouse where Todd accidentally pushed a pregnant Blair off the roof, killing her unborn child. Blair told Todd that she still loved him, but the two agreed that their love was lethal and did not get back together. 
2007
Todd soon developed feelings for Evangeline, who broke up with Cristian after kissing Todd, but she never admitted to having feelings for Todd. Although he was relieved when Spencer was murdered, Todd became obsessed with finding the son he had with Margaret, unaware that Michael and Marcie McBain had unknowingly adopted him and named him Tommy. After getting a clue from Miles Laurence, who received a letter from Spencer, Todd traveled to Chicago with Blair, hoping to find TJ. Todd disappeared after following a trap set up by unknown villains, devastating Blair. Blair went back to Llanview, vowing to find Todd.
