The drama surrounding Y&R’s Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), GH’s Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) and DAYS’s Fiona (Serena Scott Thomas, with Elia Cantu as Jada) was top-notch.

General Hospital: Holly Is Sasha’s Mother!

Ding, dong! It’s con woman Holly Sutton at the Quartermaine’s front door looking for Sasha. “What do you want, Mother?” queried the Qs’ model-turned-cook.

It’s safe to say that this particular twist — that Sasha is apparently the product of some off-camera, between-the-sheets reunion for Holly and ex-hubby Robert Scorpio  — was not one fans saw coming, especially in light of Sasha’s romantic entanglement with Mac’s newfound son Cody Bell, Sasha’s first cousin. (It also came as a shock to Holly’s portrayer, Emma Samms — find out what she had to say about it here.)

“I know this is difficult to hear,” said Holly to her incredulous daughter as she revealed a) her paternity and b) her biological relationship to her suitor. Uh, ya think? Holly claimed she kept Sasha’s paternity a secret because Robert was presumed dead when Sasha was born and because the Scorpios have enemies. Sasha called BS on that because Robert has another daughter who has been kept safe. (Memo to Sasha: Only if you don’t count Faison, Obrecht, Helena Cassadine, etc. who have kidnapped and/or tried to kill Robin.)

Not every viewer is on board with this retcon … especially those who’ve watched long enough to know that nowhere in the established-on-TV timeline for the characters involved could a Robert/Holly baby actually exist. But it certainly got fans talking, and for the diehard Robert and Holly fans, the wish fulfillment them sharing a child represents is pretty great — and a long time coming.

Young and Restless: Celebrating Phyllis

Y&R was wise to build Michele Stafford’s 30th anniversary around the murder mystery of her son Daniel’s partner. The episode opened with Phyllis rightly questioning whether Sharon was behind the framing of Daniel for Heather’s death. Daniel countered that Phyllis wants to pin the crime on Sharon because the two have spent years hating each other. “I’m the only one in town who knows what that woman is capable of,” warned Phyllis.

Cue the flashbacks! Phyllis putting the octopus in Christine’s bed, losing custody of Daniel, romancing Jack, giving birth to Nick’s child in an elevator during an ice storm, Sharon switching Summer’s paternity test results. When Daniel commented that his mother basically stalked his father, Phyllis amusingly replied that she just happened to be in the same vicinity as Danny all the time.

Yes it was strange for Phyllis’s family to sit on a park bench and go down memory lane with a murder charge hanging over Daniel’s head, but Y&R circled back to Sharon at the end with Phyllis citing her “internal radar” that Sharon was involved in Heather’s death and she was going to prove it.

“Don’t try to stop me,” Phyllis ordered. How could they?!

Bold and Beautiful: Liam Wants Hope Back

Liam Spencer has been languishing on the sidelines for over a year (since he spotted Hope kissing Thomas in Italy and dumped her). But a conversation with his younger brother, Will, made Liam see he misses his life with Hope, so he set about winning her back. First up? Making a “This is your life” video painting Hope as a model mom, businesswoman and… wife? Liam gushed that he wants everyone to know how much she’s accomplished and added that he can’t stop thinking about her. “We share something really great, as friends and co-parents,” he said before kissing her.

Hope pushed him away (which viewers know was partly due to her sudden romance with Carter) so Liam redoubled his efforts, vowing to Will and Bill that he was going to prove to Hope she’s the only woman for him. Hope and Liam have been married to each other three times. If the fourth time’s the charm, don’t look for the officiant from their 2018 nuptials to be available: It was Carter. At this point, Hope and Liam’s rooting value is questionable, but we’re happy for those viewers who do want to see them take another stab at romance … and also for those who want to see Liam try to woo Hope again just so she can shut him down!

Days of our Lives: Fiona Is Busted

It was only a matter of time before Sarah remembered Fiona was behind the wheel of the car that hit her, but sharing her memory flash with Fiona proved almost deadly. Fiona denied the accusation, then begged Sarah not to tell and finally pushed Sarah’s wheelchair to the top of the stairs vowing no one would ever know what really happened that night on the road. “Except me!” boomed Xander.

Game over. Fiona admitted she hit Sarah, adding that she’s a terrible mother and is ashamed of herself. Xander snarked his surprise she didn’t cut and run like she usually does, but Fiona claimed she couldn’t bear to lose her son. Too late!

“Never in my life did I think I’d have to call the cops on my own mother,” lamented Xander as Jada arrived with handcuffs. Sarah expressed regret that she ever brought Fiona to town and, worse, trusted her with their daughter Victoria. Fiona said she loved them. Xander and Sarah stared stone-faced as Jada hauled her away.

The Worst

B&B: Chakra Con

What was legendary ladies man Ridge Forrester doing preaching about healing and meditation and chakras? The Forrester CEO had his hand on Taylor’s heart while a healer told them to “breathe as one” so they could “begin the journey to balance their chakras.” Ridge, who cheated on Taylor with Brooke like a thousand times, rebalancing Taylor’s fear of abandonment was ironic at best. He caused her fear of abandonment!

There’s an argument to be made for practicing mindfulness when suffering from Broken Heart Syndrome (according to the Mayo Clinic) but the person who betrayed Taylor over and over is not the person who can “heal her past betrayals” — at least not without a significant conversation. Obviously B&B went this route so Brooke could see Ridge and his ex all tangled up in each other and get jealous. A more meaningful route would have been Taylor calling Ridge on all the hurt he’s caused her (and her heart) — which could have also helped fans “rebalance” the new Taylor recast.

DAYS: Chad Marries Fake Abigail

The woman impersonating murdered Abigail Deveraux got Abigail’s husband Chad to marry her with a fake DNA test and some easily researched “memories” which doesn’t say much for Chad’s executive skills. Abby’s brother JJ showed up out of the blue to officiate and Holly — who has no real ties to the duo — was maid of honor. The lack of connection between these four people was glaring, as was “Abigail’s” carelessness letting Holly overhear her talking to her brother Mark and then covering that she meant JJ.

Oops! JJ apologized at the wedding for not being in touch, prompting Holly to say, “Wait. Didn’t you talk last night?” No, said JJ. After all the lies Chad swallowed, that’s the one that raised his suspicion and made him turn on his bride? Kudos to Patch for busting in to hit Mark and announce “This woman is not Abigail!” but it was Chad’s love for the late Abigail that took the real hit.
