Speaking of Maureen, her daughter, Michelle (then-Rachel Miner), suffered when she suddenly died. Michelle turned away from Dad Ed (Peter Simon) and her school work until Holly (Maureen Garrett) stepped in to help Michelle conquer junior high in 1993. Together, they did homework and science projects, while a jealous Blake glowered.
Little Billy’s (then Bryan Buffinton) tumultuous home life drove the preteen to the bottle in 1991. He wanted his mom, Vanessa, to reunite with dad Billy. Besides driving drunk and wrecking Grandfather Henry’s (William Roerick) Bentley, Uncle Josh had to pick up the lad at school one day because he was drunk. The school couldn’t reach Little Billy’s father because he was too deep into alcoholism to realize that his own son had a problem.
Marah (Lindsey McKeon) wasn’t one to let her hair down once she got into college in 2001. She was proud of her virginal status and even wrote a paper about it for her history class. Nemesis Catalina (Jessica Jimenez) stole the missive and e-mailed it to various friends and foes. Frat guy Ben loved a challenge and bet his pals that he could teach Miss Lewis sex education. (He failed.)
