The Spauldings Must Go On

Alan, the Spaulding patriarch, was first portrayed by Chris Bernau from 1977-84, and again from 1986-88. During a leave of absence in 1988, Daniel Pilon pinch-hit for Bernau and stayed until 1989.
In 1994, Ron Raines put on the Italian loafers and has walked in Alan’s shoes ever since.
Phillip was a child when he arrived in Springfield, with Jarrod Ross playing the part from 1977-81.
Grant Aleksander has portrayed Phillip the longest — he took him from his teen years, 1982-84, to his suit-and-tie days, 1987-91, and is currently in the role (he returned in 1996).
