Soap Superlatives
Stand-Out Scenes
B&B: We’re glad Ridge is still on Steffy’s side and not just sitting by, watching Liam and Hope get close without saying anything. After the awkward dinner they all shared, we’re hoping for more tension in the Forrester house.
DAYS: Marlena, Vivian and Kate’s bunker party was classic DAYS. We laughed out loud at nearly every line uttered from the drunken women. And the flashbacks to Marlena’s possession were a nice touch.
GH: They’re both relatively new characters, but Finn and Chase’s failed reconciliation brunch was rather poignant. Chase exhibits an irony-free earnestness, while Finn is the most sardonic character on the show, so these two polar opposites played nicely off each other. We hope they find a way to get along someday!
Y&R: Kyle’s only been back for a short time, but the character is completely rejuvenated. He resents his family, but wants their respect; he wants Victor to treat him like a formidable player in the business, but is afraid to give away the big Jack paternity secret.
Things That Made Us Go Hmmm
B&B: How frustrating was the almost-reunion between Steffy and Liam? The circumstances were contrived, and once again Liam has been made to look like a gullible fool.
DAYS: As fun as the bunker scenes were, the cliffhanger in which the ladies passed out from the lack of air was silly; we all knew nobody was going to die, especially Marlena!
GH: Why would Maxie ask Aurora COO Peter to try to unmask the anonymous benefactor of the charity set up to benefit the families of injured and fallen police officers and not, say, Spinelli or Sam, both of whom are not only closer to her but are actual private detectives?
Y&R: Last week Sharon was feeling guilty, this week Victoria’s feeling guilty. Since the ladies covered up J.T.’s death, this story has stalled. It’s time to move it along.
Dr. Laura Strikes Again
When did DAYS’s Dr. Laura have time to tape up all the openings in the bunker, and wouldn’t the ladies have noticed? Also, her actions confirm how dangerous she really is, moreso than Gabby, who feels bad when she hits people. The layers just keep getting deeper for Abigail, and it makes for exciting viewing.
