Dan Gauthier (Kevin)
Though it’s not something he brags about, Gauthier is actually a good singer and guitar player. He’s not yet been coaxed into showing off his skills on OLTL, but he is on the One Life, Many Voices CD, and was most recently heard singing in public at Hillary B. Smith’s (Nora) fan luncheon earlier this year.Renee Goldsberry (Evangeline)
Goldsberry first started singing at 8 years old when her mother sent her to a summer musical theater program. She continued to sing and perform through high school and eventually went on to earn a master’s degree in vocal jazz performance at the University of Southern California. Goldsberry has performed with Barry White, Patti Austin, Al Green, Rod Stewart, Yolanda Adams, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Jeffrey Osborne, Faith Hill, Barry Manilow and Vonda Shepherd. Three of her John Lennon Songwriting Award-winning songs are featured on her first album, Everything But the Kitchen Sink, which she co-wrote and produced with bassist and music producer Andreas Geck.
Goldsberry also displayed her siren skills when she appeared as Silvia in the New York City Shakespeare in the Park musical production of Two Gentlemen of Verona, as Nala in the Broadway production of The Lion King, and as Nettie in the Broadway production of The Color Purple.
Recently, Goldsberry has been singing at various events with Trevor St. John (Todd), who plays percussion. One of their collaborations can be heard on the One Life, Many Voices CD.Ilene Kristen (Roxy)
The singer/performer has performed on the New York club scene since the 1980s. Her band Pulse appeared at several New York City venues, including the China Club and Heartbreak. Kristen also opened for Reuben Blades at Lonestar. From 1987-1993, she collaborated with saxophonist Victor Lesser, and she was the opening act for Bruce Willis’s band, The Persuasions. She also wrote the lyrics for the song “In a Heartbeat,” which appeared on an album by smooth jazz guitarist Chuck Loeb. Kristen currently is a regular performer at the Manhattan club The Triad.
Kristen made her Broadway debut in Henry, Sweet Henry, and went on to originate the role of Patty Simcox in Grease. She’s also had a number of Off-Broadway singing parts.John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex)
Although he soon decided that acting was his true calling, Lavoisier studied music performance, specializing in the drums, while he was in college. He is currently toying with the idea of joining a band at some point — if he can find the time to commit.Paul Satterfield (Spencer)
Satterfield is a part-time guitar-playing singer/songwriter. He released a short, three-song CD, Suburban Blues, in 1993, and is currently working on a new group of songs he hopes to record someday.
Trevor St. John (Todd)
St. John won a jazz scholarship to Whitworth College in Spokane, WA, where he played drums. As a jazz percussionist, St. John has played with Marshall Royal (Count Basie Orchestra), Slide Hampton, Bill Berry (Duke Ellington Orchestra) and Gene Harris. He can now be seen playing the cajon (a box drum played by slapping) in performances with co-star Renee Goldsberry.Tika Sumpter (Layla)
Sumpter is one-half of the hip-hop/R&B act Twise (Tika plus Precise, who is a rapper). Twise first experienced a buzz of success in 2001 while signed to Universal. Their single “Think Twise” received considerable airplay in the New York area, and listeners of Las Vegas radio station KLUC voted it No. 1.
Twise is now signed with the Divine Mills label, owned by Kay Gee of Naughty by Nature. The track “Paint the World (America’s Anthem)” is featured on the One Life, Many Voices CD.
