Soap Alum James Lipton Passes Away At 93

James Lipton, who is best known for his years hosting INSIDE THE ACTOR’S STUDIO, passed away on March 2 from bladder cancer at the age of 93. Soap operas played a large role in Lipton’s early career; from 1952-62, he appeared on GUIDING LIGHT as Dick Grant, then went on to a prolific career as a writer and/or head writer for soaps including GL, ANOTHER WORLD, EDGE OF NIGHT and CAPITOL; in addition, he he created and wrote the ABC serial BEST OF EVERYTHING, which aired from March to September of 1970.
