Singing With Julia Barr

Comments

ALL MY CHILDREN’s Julia Barr (Brooke) had a blast showcasing her vocal talents this past February at AMC’s 35th Anniversary Broadway show. “The Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS people were absolutely fantastic in bringing that together with so many people with different schedules. They assigned us all musical directors to work with so we could work on our own. And over the weekend they pulled that show together. They had all the music, blocked it out, put it in order, and rehearsed it. It was quite amazing. I don’t think they ever had an audience [like] a daytime audience. And they made so much money, which is great.”

There was one memorable moment that caused quite a few laughs among the cast. “They made the announcement — like they always do — that the taking of photographs was prohibited. This huge laugh went up from the audience because no one was not going to take pictures,” laughs Barr. “A little while later [the stage manager] asked Walt (Willey, Jack) and Cameron (Mathison, Ryan) to make another announcement to not take pictures. And Cameron said, ‘We absolutely can’t. I’m sorry.’ (Laughs.) It doesn’t bother us. If they want to do it, they have to be allowed to do it. It was a one-time event.”
