Seeing Green (Card)
Code Blue: Luke met sexy Brit Holly in 1982 while she was skinny-dipping in a mountain lake. He was immediately smitten. The pair flirted and made love, then Holly was gone. They reunited when Holly was arrested for vagrancy in Port Charles and called Luke to bail her out. Though he let her stew for a night, Luke relented, unaware that Holly was a con artist planning to swindle him in an oil scam. Surreptitiously working with her ailing father, Charles, and devious cousin Basil, the trio convinced P.C. denizens that there was oil beneath a nearby swamp and sold phony claims to pocket the wealth. However, Holly came to truly care for Luke and came clean about the scam. Furious at her betrayal, Holly’s cohorts kidnapped her and dragged her to Vancouver, but Luke and Robert rescued the damsel-in-distress. After Charles’s deathbed confession exonerated Holly, she and Luke settled down together. Unfortunately, Luke was unable to trust Holly, so he headed to the mountains for some much-needed solitude. There he was buried in an avalanche and mistakenly presumed dead. Back in P.C., a heartbroken Holly found herself pregnant with his child and about to be deported.
Golden Opportunity: To honor his “fallen” best friend, Robert stepped in and offered to marry Holly, despite the objections of his then-girlfriend, Jackie Templeton. Holly initially rejected the idea and planned to return to England, but Robert caught her at the airport just in time and convinced her that the arrangement would only be temporary. A somber ceremony in the mayor’s office followed in February 1983.
White Lies: Jackie quickly dumped her married beau. Holly felt like she had betrayed Luke, guilt took its toll and sadly, she miscarried. Robert reminded her that she needed to stay wed to him in order to remain in the country. Gray Area: Once Holly accepted her situation, she found a true friend in Robert and began to help her husband with his private investigation business. The two grew closer as they set out to solve the mystery of who killed Susan Moore. The pair clicked — everywhere but in the bedroom. Then, when Robert’s old flame, Constance Townley, came to town, Holly tried to play it cool and told Robert that it was okay with her if he wanted to rekindle the romance. She lied. Holly grew jealous and confessed her true feelings, which Robert shared. He carried his wife upstairs and they made love.
