1996: When someone started stalking Felicia, she believed it was Tom. She eventually realized that it was Kevin, who had become mentally ill. Felicia forgave Kevin, but her relationship with Tom was ruined.
1997: Tom continued to seek a reconciliation with Felicia, and she agreed to consider it. Things went well, until he left on a medical trip to Africa. Felicia focused on her new career as a private investigator — with Mac as her partner. Her first gig? Agreeing to help Lucy investigate the Cassadines in order to uncover the real reason behind Kevin’s job offer with the clan. Kevin began acting strangely, and Felicia accused him of stalking her. He denied her charges and she believed him. But Felicia and a suspicious Lucy followed him to Paris, where he secretly visited a convent. There, they discovered that Kevin was hiding his father. Felicia then took her girls to Texas, where she received a breakup letter from Tom. Mac, missing Felicia, went to Texas and brought her and her daughters home. In Port Charles, Felicia became jealous over Mac’s friendship with Dara.
1998: Felicia took on a case of a woman named Tess, who hired her to find her missing husband, who had left her years ago. Felicia noticed that the man in the picture that Tess gave her was a dead ringer for Mac. Later, Mac was kidnapped by Tess, whose partner, James Meadows, then took Mac’s place as part of the ruse. Felicia accepted James’s proposal (believing he was Mac). She finally learned the truth and James and Tess were apprehended. However, because everyone believed that Felicia and Mac were engaged, the duo decided to announce the truth at their wedding and call off the nups. Instead, Mac proclaimed his love for Felicia at the altar and they were married, after all.
1999: Felicia started to write a novel about Tammy Hansen, a former prostitute who had taken over Kelly’s diner. Her plans were put on hold, however, when Ned commissioned her to write Lila’s memoirs. This put her in close contact with Luke, who helped her solve a mystery surrounding Lila’s past. They continued to be friendly, but a mutual attraction blossomed as she helped him in his various international escapades. This put a huge strain on her marriage to Mac, who grew jealous over her friendship with Luke. Meanwhile, Felicia was being watched by obsessive Cesar, who had been manipulating Luke’s life over the course of a year and had kidnapped her in 1999. Faison snatched Felicia again, and Luke searched for her. Soon, he was thrown into a cell with her and the pair came close to making love when they thought they were going to die. Suddenly, Mac burst in and saved them.
