Soap Opera Digest: What do you know about your character?
Victor Alfieri: I know a lot, but I’m not going to tell you.

Digest: I doubt you know that much because they tend to keep things secret over there.
Alfieri: That’s the best thing because it surprises the audience and the actor. I know that Gianni Valentino is a very famous ladies’ man in Europe and he likes Fancy Crane. I gave you too much information already by giving you the last name [laughs].Digest: How did this role come about for you?

Alfieri: It was a request from the network and I accepted it because I like soap operas. I’m collecting soaps; now I have three under my belt. I’ve seen the show before and I think it’s really great. There’s a lot of comedy in it; I like to do comedy. And I worked with the creator of the show [James E. Reilly] on DAYS, so this was a chance to work with him again. Digest: Ironically, the storyline you’re involved in takes place in Rome, where you were born. Do you wish it was being filmed in Rome?
Alfieri: I think everybody does. It’s always good to get out of town and get paid for it.Digest: Will you be speaking Italian?
Alfieri: I throw in some words here and there to give it a little flavor. I always like to do that; make the character more real, especially if you’re in Rome. I think the audience likes to hear a different language, especially Italian. It’s a very beautiful language, very romantic. We should do the interview in Italian. Digest: That would be great, but it would take me weeks to translate it. Do you think the set really looks like Rome?

Alfieri: Yeah, they did a pretty good job. They’re always able to re-create sets exactly. Remember the Titanic storyline? I was so impressed with that. Back then, I was on DAYS and I remember watching it in my dressing room. Digest: How long can we expect to see you on PASSIONS?
Alfieri: Right now, it’s a recurring role. We’re taking it week by week. We don’t know how long the character will stick around. But so far, so good. I’m very happy to be here because the people are very nice; the crew, the cast, everybody.Digest: How is it working with Emily Harper (Fancy)?
Alfieri: I kissed her the first day of work. Can you believe that? I’m so lucky.Digest: Was it easy for you to slide back into the soap routine?
Alfieri: Yeah. It’s a good job to have, but also very tough. The material is huge and the time is so little. You really have to be a pro to pull it off. I’m a pro [laughs]. Digest: Has anything in your personal life changed since you were last on a soap?

Alfieri: I’m bald now [laughs]. I’m not married. I have my puppy, Tarzan, and he’s got a wife now, Jane. So I have Tarzan and Jane.
