Roller Coaster Ride: GL’s John Driscoll (Coop) shares his excitement for an upcoming GL event

Comments

Soap Opera Digest: How well do you know Kings Dominion?
John Driscoll: I grew up going there as a kid. I live about 45 minutes south from it. It’s one of those places that you can go all day and have so much fun that you don’t even realize what time it is.When the park is closing, you don’t want to leave, but you get back in the car, and your body’s just thoroughly drained.

Digest: When was the first time you went?
Driscoll: I had to be maybe 7 or 8. That’s when I first went on a roller coaster with my dad. I was this little kid kicking and screaming, but they finally got me in it. When I got off, I said, “Oh, my gosh, let’s do that again.” So from that moment, I was completely hooked.

Digest: How often do you go back?
Driscoll: Whenever I get a chance. I actually have a couple friends who work down there.

Digest: How did the event come about?
Driscoll: CBS wanted to do a big event and down south, we have a big demographic of followers, everywhere from Virginia to Florida and then further Mid-west. This is the first time CBS has really done something big like this.

Digest: A lot of the cast is involved.

Driscoll: There’s a huge contingent. Three-quarters of the cast are going down. I’m excited because I get a chance to host one of the events. Some people from the audience will get a chance to work with the actors in a scene, so they’ll have to go through an audition process. Everyone has a chance to be a star for 15 minutes.

Digest: How did you find out about the event?
Driscoll: I told the studio I wanted to go back to Virginia, and they said, if you go, there’s something coming up in your area. I said absolutely, I’d love to.

Digest: How long will you be in the park?
Driscoll: We have to be there by 10 a.m. and it’ll run until 6 or 6:30 p.m. There are different events, and we’re going to be doing pictures, autographs and karaoke. Its going to be very interactive, with a lot of hands-on stuff.

Digest: What are you most looking forward to?
Driscoll: I want to see if I can break any records, like most consecutive rides on a roller coaster. We’ll see.
