The Prodigal Wives Return

Comments

AMC has confirmed that Lindsay Hartley‘s Cara is none other than Carolyn, Jake’s ex-wife. Here are six other inconvenient spouses who’ve popped up in Pine Valley.Barbara Montgomery: Though they’d divorced before coming to town in 1987, Barbara and Travis remained close, and she worked as the director of his Senate campaign. Her presence complicated his nascent romance with Erica Kane, who took an instant dislike to Babs. Erica and Travis made it to the altar in 1988, but Barbara wasn’t idle: She took up with Erica’s ex-husband, Tom, then, in 1989, Barbara bedded an amnesiac Travis and remarried him (memory intact) in 1991. They left town that year, but she returned in 2007 and slept with Jack during a rough patch in his marriage to Erica.

Daisy Murdoch: After Palmer kicked wife Daisy out for cheating on him, he told their daughter, Nina, that Daisy was dead. In 1980, using the alias Monique Jonvil, Daisy returned and forged a relationship wth Nina. When Palmer learned what she’d been up to the following year, he sicced his Dobermans on her.

Raquel Dion: Her 1998 arrival revealed a) that Mateo had been married before Hayley, b) that he was still married to his high school sweetie (oops!) and c) that they shared a kid, Max. Though Raquel tried to win Mateo back, she failed, and left town in 1999.
Rebecca Fowler: Jesse’s missing years became a little less blurry with the 2008 entrance of Rebecca, with whom he had daughter Natalia during the 20 years he was presumed dead. Though the two never technically wed, they lived as a family for decades, until Jesse’s pull to Angie and Frankie proved too strong to resist. When Angie met the cancer-stricken Rebecca, she did her best to remain stalwart, even inviting her to live with her and Jesse.

Maria Santos Grey: Reports of Maria’s 1997 demise turned out to be greatly exagerated in 2002, when the amnesiac living as “Maureen S. Gorman” was encountered in Nevada by Brooke —who just happened to be on the verge of tying the knot with Maria’s not-quite-widower, Edmund. When “Maureen” made her way to P.V. and walked in on Edmund and Brooke’s wedding, Edmund was stunned — and had his new union annulled when he learned that Brooke had kept “Maureen’s” existence from her.

Nina Cortlandt: After three failed marriages to Cliff, Nina had married Matt and moved to Chicago. But in 1989, she returned, needing Cliff’s medical expertise for her ill son, Mikey. Cliff ended up learning that he was Mikey’s biological father, and he and Nina felt their old pull to one another return in full force. Unfortunately for Angie, she was engaged to Cliff at the time! Angie decided to step aside, Cliff and Nina married one last time and they left town together.
