PASSIONS’ Top 10 Thrilling Moments
PASSIONS is usually known for its incredibly funny moments of satire and farce. But in between the giggles and LOLs, the show has also delivered a number of edge-of-your-seat moments — some scary, some horrifying, others too suspenseful to watch. Here’s a rundown of our Top 10.10. Sure, the whole Princess Diana story was humorously over-the-top, but watching Sheridan crash her car into the exact same Parisian tunnel where Diana had crashed and died gave us a chill down our spines. That the show went on location in Paris and taped the sequence in the actual tunnel lent an air of realism that upped the dramatic ante.9. When the kids from Harmony High decided to take their prom onto the sleepy Harmony bay, neither they nor viewers had a clue that this prom truly would be a night they’d never forget — but not in a good way. A raging storm helped to capsize the boat, throwing everyone aboard into a life-or-death struggle in the raging waters.8. Water has been dangerous on PASSIONS in many forms — (the prom boat, above; Charity being frozen in a block of ice, etc.) but who would have imagined that a bowl of dirty rainwater practically led to Charity’s demise? As Tabitha plunged her hands into the bowl at her house, they resurfaced into Charity’s bathroom sink, where Tabitha shockingly attempted to strangle the poor girl to death with all her might.
7. After Julian pushed too many buttons of Harmony’s residents, we knew it would only be a matter of time before someone tried to off him. (You know you’re not long for this world when the town’s high school athletic coach and one of the town’s cops keep beating the hell out of you). Still, the way in which Julian died (or so we thought) — being shot off a ledge and falling into a boiling vat of fish guts — was downright grisly.6. One of PASSIONS’ longest-running mysteries was finally exposed — at least to one person — when Liz finagled a look into TC’s shed. Liz’ horrified reaction made our imaginations run even wilder than they had been before.5. 2000 started off with a bang — or make that a crash — when Martin Fitzgerald fell to his death through the rooftop skylight of the Seascape restaurant just as Harmony’s party-goers inside had counted down to midnight. Members of the Lopez-Fitzgerald family looked on in horror as their M.I.A. patriarch lay still in a heap on the dessert table. Giving this moment an added twist was the reveal that he wasn’t the real Martin Fitzgerald after all — but a very mysterious (and very dead) impostor.
4. As Harmony’s perpetual damsel-in-distress, Sheridan has been through more scary life-or-death dilemmas than most people have seen in a lifetime. But her most recent turn as a kidnapped, pregnant, tortured hostage in a dirty pit in the basement of the Wallace House of Horrors has been the most painful to watch yet. Being taunted by the psychotic, sexually-confused Charlie and the equally nutty Beth made the story eerily reminiscent of Silence of the Lambs.
