Luis was still keyed up over the robbery and, more importantly, his mother’s
shooting, when he joined Trainee Crane and Chief Bennett at the station in
the morning. “You can’t use your position on the force to play vigilante,”
Sam warned and Luis said he was just venting. When Fancy excused herself to get to class, Luis stopped her and accused her of writing his report on the night before. She didn’t deny it and Sam noted it was a good report. Luis begrudgingly thanked her, but insisted she get his permission next time. When she left, Sam got a quick laugh over them, but Luis quickly turned the conversation back to the case. He told Sam he didn’t believe the alibi Chris
provided for Spike, but Sam wasn’t sure Luis’ gut feeling wasn’t actually a touch of jealousy. When they talked about what a good job the girls did in rescuing Jessica, Luis commended Fancy but wondered if she could or should make the sacrifices a cop has to make. The guys wondered if having a healthy
relationship was possible for cops. An eavesdropping Fancy was ready to show Luis it was. She interrupted with the ballistics report on his mother’s shooting. Pilar’s bullet matched not only Chris’, but also one used in a
nightclub shooting.

A sleeping Ethan jumped awake when he saw Theresa underneath him instead of Gwen. Once he shook it off, he told Gwen he’d proven his feelings for
Theresa were of no concern when he sided with Julian about Little E. Gwen was (rightly) worried. Ethan later visited Pilar and, with her breath labored, she reminded him that she was like a second mother to him. She then insisted, “Leave Gwen. You belong with Little Ethan and Jane and Theresa. They’re your family.” She slipped and told him Little E. was his son, but
backtracked and covered up. When he said everyone was moving on, she got agitated. He calmed her and promised to think about what she’s said. “You know in your heart that I’m right,” she said before he left.

Jared walked into Theresa’s office just as she was pushing her weight around with the hospital. When she hung up the phone she got straight to business, offering Jared the exec position for which he’d had that awful interview.
He was hesitant, but she said he was more than qualified and wowed him with her new hire package. She was impressed that he had an MBA and law degree. He asked for a review and increase in stock options in six month’s time. When
he went to sign the forms, he noticed Ethan’s name on a document and asked, “Are you trying to get me to fill Ethan’s spot here in the workplace and out in the real world?” She promised he was not an “Ethan knockoff,” swore she was past Ethan and the madness their love created and reminded him that people were not interchangeable. She was glad he’d communicated with her instead of assuming she was playing him again. After the phone rang, she handed him a file and said to take a minute to review it before helping her close the deal. When the call came through, Theresa stumbled a bit. Jared
jumped in and though it looked like he wasn’t helping, he sealed the deal. Ethan arrived just in time to catch their celebratory kiss and walked out without saying anything. When Jared took off to make a trip to legal, Ethan returned, only to hear Theresa rave about Jared, both professionally and personally. “I think I’m starting to fall for him Whitney, big time,” she confessed.

Chris and Sheridan cuddled in bed and rehashed the previous night’s events. When Chris started smooching, she pushed him away to say how “safe and
sound:” she felt with him. Then they had breakfast, where Chris marveled over both his wife’s tango skills and the palpable chemistry Fancy and Luis had had on the dance floor. Sheridan then told Chris she wanted to get a job at Crane, hopefully replacing Fancy in fashion design. “Fashion’s in my blood,” she glowed and Chris felt it was “too perfect.” He then added that he was thinking about returning to the workforce. He promised he’d “fly right” as an accountant and then Sheridan suggested he also get a job at Crane. Chris wanted to keep his independence, which blew Sheridan away. She was glowing
with respect, while a watching Spike was rolling his eyes. He sent a text message, calling Chris to the bookcases while Sheridan caught up with newly arrived Gwen. Gwen confided that she was worried Ethan wouldn’t be able to let Theresa go. Sheridan reminded her that he chose her and Gwen said she just didn’t know if that was a sign of his love or his obligation to her. Sheridan suggested she give Ethan a chance to adjust to Theresa’s new beau. She also
bragged that Chris didn’t want to use her for her money and that she could trust him. Of course, he was off talking to Spike. “Our partnership isn’t
over yet,” Spike said. He wanted Chris to take that accounting job at Crane so
that he could embezzle money… or else he’ll tell Sheridan about “Chicago.”
