As The World Turns

Parros in the Wintertime

Comments

Peter Parros (Ben) returned to AS THE WORLD TURNS on Nov. 6 for an appearance during the show’s Never Surrender tour. The actor dishes the trip and why he’d love to come back.Soap Opera Weekly: When you were approached about coming back for this, were you quick to jump at the chance?

Peter Parros: Absolutely. ATWT — I was so happy; I was there for, like, nine years — was very much a part of my life. People still see me and call me “Ben,” so it was great to get back and work. And it was fun being on location in Philadelphia, because it felt like shooting a little short film and being on a film set. I was definitely excited, and the writers captured the spirit and essence of Ben. They had some good scenes, some good stuff to work with, so it’s not like I was just passing through. They really gave me some good things. I was wondering what they would do, and I’m very happy with the way it all came together.

Weekly: People still miss Ben; they miss Jessica. Fans are always talking about having those characters back.

Parros: I would love to come back, and I would love for there to be a Ben and Jessica story. Tamara [Tunie] is awesome to work with, and what is exciting about daytime is when there is passion and energy. If they could come back and bring back some fire, that’s what people want to see. Ben and Jessica could absolutely bring that. You’ve got to have a little fire, a little flavor, in there! That’s kind of my bag with the work, whether it’s here or whatever else I’m doing — to bring some passion to it. Entertainment and acting is [all] about getting people to connect, not intellectually, but emotionally, to who you are, to what your character is.
