Carlo is Cristian’s cell neighbor in solitary confinement, and isn’t Thom Christopher (Carlo) a delight spouting out annoyances for poor Cristian to listen to. (Thom’s got the best voice on daytime…but I digress.) Carlo suspected Cristian wasn’t really John Doe, anyway. “Someone here must have deep feelings for little Natalie,” he guessed. “Why avenge her virtue if you are not Cristian Vega,” he asked. Cristian spent most of the episode pounding the wall and hurting his hand.

Michael and Natalie met over drinks, rather civilly, though Michael didn’t know why Natalie cared what he thought about her budding romance with his big brother John. She suspected Michael had been developing feelings for her and she wanted to let him down easy. He all but laughed her out of the bar. “We both know that there has been something for a while.” Michael grabbed the chance to clarify the situation. “1. You and I are friends, 2. You love my brother,” he said when asked to comment about why he was worried when she was missing. Michael wondered if Natalie might be feeling a little guilty for surviving Cristian and learning to love again and perhaps Natalie was also feeling a little scared about finding love again. Natalie didn’t think so and ended her conversation with Michael.

Evangeline was, let’s say, a bit shocked to hear that Layla and Antonio would soon be cohabitating. Antonio thought it was a good idea to present a stable home for Jamie. Evangeline, whose eyes kept getting bigger and bigger when she heard more about their plans, said, “You are using stable and my sister in the same sentence?” Evangeline added that “NO ONE was going to buy this,” but both Antonio and Layal disagreed with her, in different ways. Layla claimed she’s doing this as an acting exercise. Antonio reminded Evangeline that he’d do anything to get his daughter. Layla pulled Evangeline aside and presented Cristian Vega’s file to Evangeline. Evangeline was furious to learn that Layla had used Evangeline’s key to get into John’s apartment. Layla said she was determined to find out why John dumped Evangeline.

Meanwhile, Natalie told Antonio she had left tons of messages for Jessica but had heard nothing. Natalie then joined the conversation between Layla and Evangeline, can we spell T-E-N-S-E. Natalie told Layla she’s developing a problem with Layla. Evangeline asked Natalie to keep her distance. Natalie suggested she get her sister a muzzle. (See what I said about things getting tense?) Natalie stormed off, so Layla refocused her sister to the Cristian file. Evangeline explained that they didn’t get the DNA report completed because Cristian had admitted he was an imposter. Yet, why was that file in John’s closet? Why indeed. Evangeline went to Michael for input on the DNA stuff, but before he could help he told her that John and Natalie were an official couple. Evangeline pretended she knew but was clearly upset. She then refocused (favorite word of my day!) and got Michael to start reading the file. Michael said he could get a colleague to do a reading on the DNA report. “Could be the most important case of my life,” Evangeline said.

Todd assured Dorian that his family was accounted for and safe. Oh really? Imagine his concern when David showed up and mentioned that there had been a power outage at Craze. Todd began making crazed (sorry, had to use that word) calls to Starr. Dorian remained jittery for a number of reason. David asked, “What are you doing with a data disc in your tote bag, unprotected at that?” Dorian said it was some sort of music she had for the wedding. Yeah right.

Margaret terrorized poor Starr in her mother’s office at Craze. And poor Starr. First the lights went out, then she found the bodyguard out cold and then she saw Margaret holding a flashlight to her face, in that scary way kids do. She was at that moment introduced to Margaret’s tummy. Starr couldn’t believe Margaret was pregnant with her father’s (Todd) baby. “Little Todd Manning Jr. Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?” Starr stood her ground (Blair would be proud). Then Margaret went after Starr with a gun. “A certain amount of cleaning house,” Margaret said. And then she went after Starr with a shard of glass. Starr bit Margaret (you go Starr) and then Margaret threw her on the ground. “Twinkle, twinkle little starr, history is all you are.” Fade out to end of episode.

Nash returned with plenty of cold medication for Tess only to find her NOT THERE. Tess was sitting pretty at the local bar, bumming a cigarette off the bartender and oh so happy to be alone. Nash, who’s developed his Tess-searching skills over the past few weeks, found her quickly. Nash tried to interest Tess in a nice glass of wine. The two had a testy conversation. Nash stood his ground. “Maybe we should just concentrate on the present.” And the two toasted. Nash scouted out a rich guy and the two decided to approach him for money. Then Tess saw a little blond girl (could it be little Tess of days past?)
