Natalie saw Todd leaving with Jessica’s things and asked why. Todd wouldn’t give her the whole story, but he admitted that Jess went away to treat her stress. After Todd left, Rex came by with a plan for Natalie to get back with John, but Natalie said she doesn’t want to trick John into loving her. Rex showed her the details of his plan anyway: They secretly give John a letter that looks like it was written by the killer with an enclosed photo of Natalie. Then, when John arrives to rescue her, Nat would make it look like she’s escaped just before he arrived. Rex propped the letter up on a table so Natalie could stare at it reflectively.
Sister Madeleine welcomed Jessica to the St. Ann’s monastery. When the nun asked Jessica to hand over her necklace with Antonio’s ring on it, for her own protection, Jessica got upset saying she needed to hold onto the ring.
David met Dorian at the airport and the two had a very sweet reunion. David offered to take her home for a “not-so-proper welcome home.” But before they left, Dorian saw a newspaper story reporting that Evangeline was named Woman of the Year, and said she wanted to go to the ceremony. David remembered that Spencer was taking Kelly to the event and tried to talk her out of it. Dorian insisted that they go because something outrageous always happens at those ceremonies. Once there, David practiced a speech in which he tells Dorian that Spencer is his brother, but he never got a chance to actually tell her. Dorian bumped into Kelly and asked her to introduce her to her date, Spencer. David looked on uneasily.
Kelly told Spencer, her escort to the WOTY ceremony, that event is cursed. When Kevin arrived with his date, Evangeline, Spencer taunted him about Asa’s disappearance and the trouble he is in. When Spencer left to get a drink, Kevin told Kelly, “You’re date has a lot of nerve talking about my grandfather that way.” Kelly defended Spencer.
Also at the ceremony, Lisa (Evangeline’s mother) told Vangie that Kevin is exactly the type of man she should be seeing. “I am happy John McBain is out of your life,” she told her daughter. John, who attended the ceremony alone, overheard the conversation, and Evangeline apologized for her mother’s unkind words.
Marcie kicked off the ceremony with a tribute to Jennifer. Tears streaming, lip quivering she told the crowd, “She was my best friend. She was our Jen.”
On the plane back to Llanview, Renee figured out Asa’s entire plan to have Carlo kill Blair. Asa denied everything, even that he’d kidnapped Blair in the first place, saying he is “born again.” Renee asked him why he flew off to Argentina if he wasn’t hiding something. Asa calmly continued to deny everything and told Renee she’d just have to trust him.
Carlo grabbed Blair, forced her inside her penthouse and roughed her up a bit before pointing a gun at her. Bo arrived with two uniformed officers just in time, but instead of surrendering, Carlo grabbed Blair, put his gun to her head and told the cops to back off or he’d shoot her. The cops lowered their guns and Carlo backed into the hallway with Blair still at gunpoint. Just then, Todd came home, sneaked up behind Carlo and disarmed him, saving Blair. Todd told Bo he wants to know who was behind the murder attempt, and Bo clearly looked concerned about what his best guess was. Down at the police station, Carlo admitted that Asa hired him to kill Blair.
Bo met Asa and Renee at the airport and arrested him.
