David went to the hospital and told Spencer to leave Kelly alone. Spencer responded by telling David he has him over a barrel, so he should back off and help him with his plan against Kevin. Moments later, Kelly and Kevin showed up for Kelly’s surgery, and Spencer took his patient into an operating room. David stepped out of the waiting room for a moment and called Duke to say Kelly was getting out of surgery. He then returned and told Kevin that someone had broken into his car with a small hammer. When Kevin went to check it out, David tossed a small hammer into a bin at the nurses’ station. Duke showed up and went in to see Kelly once Spencer emerged from the surgery. David asked Spencer why he had him arrange for Duke to be there for Kelly when she wakes up instead of Kevin. Spencer laughed and walked away. Meanwhile, Duke laughed playfully at Kelly’s bedside. Kelly was clearly still a little loopy from the surgery. Kevin came back and walked in on Duke and Kelly laughing together and holding hands. He cleared his throat and replaced his son at Kelly’s side, but she had fallen asleep.
Natalie met Rex at the diner. He gave her a huge hug and asked her if she was okay. Natalie told him that she doesn’t know if she’ll ever be the same after what John and Cristian put her through.
Dorian visited Todd in jail. Todd told her that Spencer offered to help him by testifying. Todd said that he doesn’t trust Spencer’s intentions and that all he really wants is Blair. Dorian told Todd that Spencer has been there for Blair and that she has warned her niece to stay away from him. Todd pointed out that although they have their differences, he and Dorian both love Blair and are worried about Spencer in her life. Dorian said she was going to do whatever it takes to get Spencer and protect Blair, but she reminded Todd that she hates him as much as she does the doctor.
Evangeline went to talk with Cristian about getting him out of prison. Cristian asked Evangeline if she wants to be with John when everything is said and done. Evangeline said she didn’t want to talk about her personal life but that maybe once she is through working to get Cristian out of prison the two of them can talk as friends. After Evangeline left, Carlotta visited Cristian. Cristian asked for his mother’s forgiveness for pulling Tico’s plug. Carlotta said he is forgiven. After saying their good-byes, Carlotta went to the diner and told Natalie that she made a vow before her family and before God to be with Cristian. Natalie said things weren’t that simple.
Hugh told John that Natalie had resigned from her job at the police station. Evangeline dropped in and John said they need to talk. He apologized for hurting Evangeline and said he should’ve opened himself up when they were together and that he should’ve said something about Cristian earlier. Evangeline told John not to beat himself up about the past. “I just want you to know that you’re right,” John whispered. “About this. About everything.” Evangeline thanked him for saying so. She said that she hopes that things work out for him, Cristian and Natalie.
Evangeline returned to Cristian saying she got word that he will not be released but will be returned to prison. Cristian vowed that nothing would keep him from his wife.
Natalie passed John in the hall at the police station and gave him the evil eye.
