No Pills Makes You…Normal?

Comments

ALL MY CHILDREN’s Damon goes off his meds this week, thanks to Liza, but his portrayer, Finn Wittrock, thinks that may not be a bad thing.Soap Opera Weekly: Liza’s been swapping Damon’s pills to make him act more crazy than he normally would, so he goes to Colby for…?

Finn Wittrock: Salvation.

Weekly: What happens?

Wittrock: It’s kind of a double-edged sword. He’s been on these pills for a while and been feeling pretty good. They’re calming him down. But Liza’s been giving him the fake pills, which have actually — because his life has been getting in order, to some degree — [made him] able to be more expressive to Colby, in terms of saying that he loves her and things like that. So it’s sort of a struggle with him between wanting to walk the line, but also being able to emote, to some degree, to her.

Weekly: Does Damon have any idea that maybe the medicine is not working anymore or that something’s different?

Wittrock: I don’t think that he does, because it’s a very big revelation, once he realizes that they are fake and he has to rethink everything that’s been going on. Now that things have actually been looking up, it makes him reconsider, like, “Do I actually want to be on these pills, because when I was not on them…it made me feel more [like] myself?” Although not being on the [pills] makes Damon more impulsive and more all-over-the-place. Damon’s off his meds at this point, so I’ve been trying to play that without overdoing it.

Weekly: Liza also tries to gloss over the lingerie pics Damon took, telling Tad that she was drunk when it happened. But that doesn’t really work, right?

Wittrock: Yeah. There’s a big blowup when Colby and I are staying in New York City. [Tad and Liza] kind of surprise us at the door. They’re always surprising us [laughs]! Liza is a master negotiator; she’s a lawyer. Although she’s lying, she puts up a really good case, and Damon becomes convinced that Tad is taking her side no matter what, and feels somewhat betrayed by that. It turns out, actually, that Tad realizes what the real truth is, and he and Damon reconcile.
