1. Erica Hope originated the role of Nikki. Melody Thomas Scott stepped in the following year and has been playing the part ever since.
2. Nikki’s older sister, Casey, is a doctor.
3. Nikki did! Nick was an alcoholic with a violent temper who sexually abused Casey, and one night, when he attacked Nikki, she accidentally killed him in self-defense.

6. Rick Daros, who was smitten with Nikki, attempted to murder her in a scuba-diving “accident,” but she was saved by Victor, Paul and Andy.

12. Nikki suffered a fall in a horseback-riding accident, which left her with a painful back injury. Unwilling to risk surgery that could leave her paralyzed, she became addicted to painkillers.

14. During an argument with Victor, Nikki tumbled down the stairs. She was rushed to the hospital, where the baby was born prematurely and died. But some good came from the tragedy: She and Jack donated the baby’s organs, which saved the life of another child.
15. Believing that Victor was dead, a grieving Nikki “found comfort” with her daughter’s boyfriend, Cole. When Vicki learned of the tryst, she rebelled by posing au naturel for Esprit de Corps as Miss September.
16. As she headed down the aisle, Nikki kept on going, all the way to the hospital, to be at Victor’s bedside after he was shot.
17. Joshua’s crazy ex-wife, Veronica, who after having plastic surgery, posed as the couple’s maid until one fatal night when she shot Joshua to death and plugged Nikki full of lead, as well.
18. Melody Thomas Scott, of course. The actress has been an accomplished pianist since childhood.
