NFL Superstar Charles Woodson Plays the Field on Y&R

Comments

Woodson is a fan from way back. “I started watching with my mom,” says the 1997 Heisman Trophy winner. “When you watch stories and get the storyline, all the sudden you have to catch it the next day and the next. During the season, I don’t get a chance to watch that much. Tuesdays are our off days, so I’m usually able to catch up then or after a game. During off season, I get a chance to watch all the time.”The Oakland Raider’s dream came true thanks to his commitment to daytime and NFL Network. “During my break between the NFL TOTAL ACCESS segments I had to shoot, I requested they put the TV on CBS, so I could watch my soaps on my downtime,” he explains. Word spread that he was a fan and the next thing he knew they were writing him onto the show.”It was pretty exciting, man, just to have the opportunity to do this,” he says. “Acting is something I may want to try one day and it was a quick way to get my feet wet and get in front of the cameras and calm myself down. It’s tough. The crazy thing is, I’m playing myself, but it still feels like acting.”Look for Woodson at Marsino’s “closing out a tab,” he previews. “I came down to see Bobby before I left town. I spoke with him for a couple quick seconds, let him know I was there for a few days and then I got out of there.”Woodson’s Mom is sure to love his special appearance, for more than one reason. “She’s definitely going to be watching,” Woodson reveals. “When she sees me on the football field, I’ve got the pads, jerseys and helmets on. On Y&R, she’ll be able to actually see me in a nice suit, talking. That will be very exciting for her.”
