I was so heart sick when I learned of Benjamin’s (Hal) passing to suicide. As many other loyal fans I have been watching the show since I could walk along with my Mother and Grandmother and find myself feeling like the characters are family. Although I never knew Benjamin I felt I knew him through Hal and often wished he was my father growing up. I wept watching him for the last time today at Jennifer’s memorial in a way it was his too. My aunt killed herself when I was very young and my prayers and thoughts go out to the cast and his family. It is very difficult to understand why when someone you love ends there life. It breaks my heart that he was so unhappy in life and in such despair, I hope he is at peace and sees how many people loved him even fans like me.

When I moved to The Netherlands 5 years ago, I couldn’t speak the language and knew nobody except my husband and his family. I was thrilled to find anything US on TV – and very quickly the cast of ATWT became my “best friends”. Even after I made my own friends and started working, I could not turn my back on my “other friends” and still tape every single episode.

When I heard about Benjamin Hendrickson’s sudden passing, I was in shock. It felt like a family member was gone. How sad that he must have been so deeply sad inside that he saw no other way. Hopefully he is happy now. “RealHal” will be sorely missed!

The sudden passing of this actor from AS THE WORLD TURNS is very tragic. I have watched ATWT since I was a young girl and then again in my teens but I have seen this actor come and go and yes, he will be very well missed by his family and friends even his castmates whom have known this man for many years on ATWT as Hal Munson. The very serious but charsamatic chief of detectives will be deeply missed by his fans, and many, many more people who keep up with the stories on KCBS channel 2. Benjamin Hendrickson was my favorite daytime soap actor and yes, I will miss his character on ATWT and so will many other people.
