Mary Fickett Dead at 83
Mary Fickett, an original ALL MY CHILDREN cast member as Ruth Martin, passed away on September 8 at home in Virginia. Fickett, who retired in 1996 and briefly reprised her role in 2000, was the first soap performer to take home a Daytime Emmy, which she did in 1973 for Ruth's emotional anti-war speech. "Mary Fickett was always such a doll to work with, always such a great sense of humor…she will be missed," said Walt Willey (Jack) on Facebook. ABC will dedicate the September 21 episode of AMC to Fickett's memory.
