Soap Opera Weekly: You looked very comfortable during the Cooper football game. Have you always been an athlete?
Marj Dusay: I played basketball all the way through high school. I shifted into golf in the later years. It’s great fun to ride a horse again when I go to the [Special Olympics Weekend]. We have big charity event in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and we ride there with the kids. They ride very slowly, and I get on and I want to tear off (laughs)! Because I really used to ride my horse at top speed when I could.

Do you keep in touch with anyone from your previous soap roles?
Dusay: Yes, Jess Walton (Jill, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS), Tonja Walker (ex-Alex, ONE LIFE TO LIVE; ex-Olivia, GENERAL HOSPITAL), Sonia Satra (ex-Barbara, OLTL; ex-Lucy, GL), Jed Allan (Edward, GH), Jennifer Bassey (Marian, ALL MY CHILDREN) and Louise Sorel (ex-Vivian, DAYS OF OUR LIVES; ex-Augusta, SANTA BARBARA) — I call her Lou — and a number of others. They’re my buddies and when they’re in New York, we’ll go to the theater.
Weekly: Speaking of buddies, what do you like to do with your pal Crystal Hunt (Lizzie, GL)?
Dusay: We go and have coffee at Starbucks, she and her mother and I, and [eat] our favorite “you’re not supposed to eat this at all if you want to be thin” pastries. And we do a lot of shopping together. We go down to Chinatown. We’ve been out to Woodbury Common [Premium Outlets] and Crystal and I have gone to fashion shows together. We’re hanging and doing what we want at the moment.
